The speaker claims that imagination is a more valuable asset than work experience since it can help approach a task without constraints of established habits and attitudes. I fundamentally agree with the speaker’s proposition, however, the speaker overlooks the importance of work experience. In fact they supplement each other and play a key role on any field.

Imagination is the source of creation and innovation, which is crucial for scientists and artist. It is very proud that our country has our own rocket landing on the moon. Nevertheless, back to thousands of years ago, flying in the sky is a ridiculous thing, which was doubted by most people. People thinking about flying as bird would be regarded as insane and abnormal ones. It is those imaginations that bring us curiosity which leads to the creation of new transportation such as plane, which result in the final success of landing on the moon, exploring materials to help us supplement the scant mines on the earth. Imagination also plays an important role on art. Take Van Gogh as an example, he had never received a regular and formal discipline as other artists did while he achieved his astonish accomplishment thanks to his great imagination. If he followed old traditions, those traditions would probably circumscribe his idea, impeding the development of a new way in drawing.

Imagination not only serves to science and art, but also has an influence on our daily lives. With the improvement of our life level, people are no longer worried about food and clothes and satisfied with normal way enjoying their lives. Instead they expect exciting and original things or ideas, which become a strong weapon enabling them to the winner in today’s competitive environment. An advertisement with new idea would please most audience, bringing about more profits. A game full of imagination would draw more game players.

Without imagination people are stuck by the achievement they have made, let alone strike for a new life and develop the whole country. It is true that Chinese students always take a high score no matter which subjects and where they are taking the examination; however, speaking of the number of Nobel Prize they’ve got , it is kind of humiliation for Chinese. The reason might thank to the way we teach our students. Since everybody concentrates on the score, teachers and parents emphasize the answers of questions which are given by so-called authority. They make student believe that there is only one exact answer, circumscribing students’ imagination. What’s more, students follow teacher’s method even losing their own way to think. Even the authority would make a fault, considering Newton’s fighting for new theory of gravity and Copernicus’s fighting for sun center theory. Losing imagination equals to losing the force to fight for the true.

Even though imagination has a lot of benefits, it cannot work without experience. Talking about Van Gogh, it is true that he didn’t receive a formal discipline, he practice his basic drawing skill for a while. Besides art, many fields need people who are experience to avoid mistakes. Especially those fields full of danger, even one small mistake would result in a damage ending. For example, the research on rocket, scientist must be fully occupied with the calculation and take a reference to the past experience. It is true for medicine too. Majority of medicines we regard as safe ones are checked by our ancestor and those experiences are valuable to us.

In sum, imagination play an importance role, providing us the source of creating new things on science, art and even our daily lives benefit a lot from it. However, experience is also valuable to us since it prevent us from many mistakes. They supplement each other and help us deal with many problems.
