TOPIC: ISSUE120 - "So much is new and complex today that looking back for an understanding of the past provides little guidance for living in the present."

Nowadays, especially after the Industrial Revolution, the human life is getting faster and faster. Everything seems to be new, such as electronic devices, and newly implemented technologies. The history of human beings, even past through thousands of years, seems to be useless when we are trying to find even a little guidance for living in the present from it, since the tools we using and the communicating methods are totally different from the past. However, history also seems to contain a mess of information that we could not obtain from any other channel. So on one hand, we can not ignore the huge amount of informations from which we can learn much, on the other hand, we should not completely depend on that information, because progress must be made by human being.

Although the technologies have been developed significantly, human, and their body, moral, intelligent, are not changing as fast as the metarial world. The way by which people think and do hardly changed in the years of human history, some of the exprience which they gained from their century, is still adoptable in today's life. An Chinese ancient militarist, Sun Tzu, put the word "If you know both your enemies and yourself, you will not be imperilied in hundreds or battles" in his work "The Art Of War". It is talking about that if you can gain enough information of the enemies and get to know the actual ability of your own army, you will win every single battle. Nowadays, people are talking about the more and more important role that information plays in a war. Thus, by understanding the past, we can learn a lot about present lives.

However, we could not overestimate the importance of history. Because the different environment we are facing, there is a possibility that how people react to an certain thing today is no longer obvious from the past days. For instance, when people attempted to explain the move of the stars in the sky, they believe the stars could predict the future of human in this world, from then on, astrology was developed. But today, even children know the stars are just like the sun. If scientists today still believe in astrology, astronomy could not even exist. We should not just literally copy the experience from our antecedents, or simply believe what they say, but seriouly consider what is right and what is wrong, and then, based on that, we can develop our own history, for our successors to discover.

Yes, nearly everything is different today, but if we could understand our history properly, rather than totally believe it or ignore it, there would be not only a little guidance for living in the present. Our antecedents will continue what we are doing now, to make their life better than ever.

看了范文发现人都是讨论个人的问题，比如陶冶情操之类的，我讨论全人类发展的问题...

个人觉得第一段可以更加深入地描述下例子，感觉只把内容解释了一遍就说，这个在现在的战争上也有用．论证不够充分，你可以说，因为这个理论非常有用，为了打仗能胜利，我们现在也这样实行，很多国家都设情报网，比如中情局，比如个克格勃，再举个反例，９１１就是因为情报不充分被攻击．
第二段这个例子，你说，星象学以前被认为有用，现在我们知道了，它们和太阳一样．问题是，和太阳一样就能证明星象学没用？这好象一点关系都没有吧．后面一个推断，要是我们现在相信星象学，就不可能有天文学了．这个更没道理．两个流派完全可以并存啊，更何况天文学的发展很大程度上是建立在星相学的基础上的．我觉得，你要说例子的话，可以说ＡＲＩＳＴＯＴＬＥ那个，什么重的掉得快，轻的掉得慢．然后小伽同学推翻了他．以此证明过去的东西也有错误，我们要加以辨别．

我认为第一段的目的是提出问题,或者以你的角度给出一个答案,背景可以用客观的语调叙述,但观点不能,否则太显武断.你的第一段我读的很吃力,可以看出,要么你中文的逻辑就是有问题的,要么就是你中文转化为英文的能力还有待提高.但是你的潜词造句挺不错.建议你背上几篇范文,对语感和思维方面的提高会有很大帮助,然后再动笔写,肯定有不错的效果.

啊...感谢了...issue方面我还没怎么准备...现在该准备了...
另外，最后那段的意思是:
如果我们properly理解历史(能分辨历史)，而不是走极端(totally believe or ignore)，历史给我们的作用将不是一点点(即作用会很多。言下之意，走极端会使历史的作用只有一点点。)
