Some people think that the critics are overrated for they only give hubris and unbodiment critisizm. However, I believe that what the critics do in their evaluation work brings the same everlasting values to the society.

The true value of works of art is revealed when the society has the chance to hear the voice which the artist utters in his or her works.  Without critics, a great deal of this intrinsic values are likely to be underrated or completely ignored by people, for the artists are always perferring the undirected, or artistic, way in his or her expression. Equipped with the professional know-how, the critics are at a better place to interperate the works and then materialize the abstract element for the sociaty. Tchaikovsky, the great Russian composer, used the Marsaille March and a Russian rythme to represent the armies of the two countries in his "1812 overtune", also he altered the rythme of Marsaille March several times to embody the decline in moral and strength of the French army. Lack in the hint of critics, the listener are likey to miss a enjoyment of experiencing a bellification when he listen the music.

The value which the critics give not only make is easier to appreciate the work of artist, but also indicates the social conventions of a socity in the history. These conventions include the taste, value and the mores which help to identify the characteristics of a sociaty. While a film which depicts the homosexual affection is acknowledged by the critics of the present, it is likely to be greatly criticized by the critcs several decade ago. We can always learn a lot such as what the society like and what the socity dislike through comparing the response given by the critics of different time to the subject of works of art. The approval given by the critics on the subject of a fiction which decribes a disater caused by the greenhouse effect may show the social's concerns of the enviromental issue; the disapproval given by the critics on a film which glorifies the war may reveals the people's attitude towards war.  Such response is of great value in the study of history, sociaty and art itself.

Admittly, the value which the critcs could given is limited when the artists try to express his or her ideas directly or the subjects of the work of art is not a serious one such as war, homosexual or morality. Most people have little difficulites in understanding the documentary films, detective stories or pop music, for they are either self-explained or just plain in meanings. Also, it is possible that critcs misinterpreter or exaggerate value of the art works for they seems to interprete everything. There is a well-know prunk that a group of critcs gave high evaluation to a collection of modern painting supposed to be the works of famous artists, which, in fact, painted by an elephant with a brush attached to his nose.

Overall, despite some mistakes that critics may make in evaluation, critics provide guidence by which people could better appreciate the works of art and everlasting valuable evaluation on behalf of the sociaty.

思路上是没有问题的，用了好些复杂词汇，有些生硬（我一直很纳闷，老美范文的复杂词汇不多，读起来就很连贯，意思也很清晰）。但我觉得GRE是考逻辑的问题，只要说的清问题，词汇还是次要的。
