The speaker asserts that individual in a society has responsibility to obey just law and to disobey unjust law, latter of which seems more important as it speaks. In my view, the modern and civil society works as an intricate matrix of independent relationship. However, in the demonic society, we human have free to choice to whether obey certain law whose legitimacy should be analyzed on case-to-case basis.
First and foremost, few would dispute that operation of society invariably relay on the law. As the standard of living and comfortable level developed, every individual gradually concern about protect own right though just laws. Having recognized the importance of the law, person certainly has responsibility to obey just law. One apt illustration of my point involves competing games, such as basketball, soccer, baseball, and so forth. Two sides of players driven by honor of winner must pursue their goal. Under the just rule, we not only enable audience to watch a just and enjoyable game but also ensure the player who hurt rival during games would be punished in order to keep the game just. In short, only by obeying the just law can the whole society works as well as we expect.
Admittedly, it is objective to think that no amount of law can completely solve the enduring social problems involved violence, shoplifting, and anti-social behavior, the reason for is they stem from certain respect of our natural. A scientist who research on the genome engineering and help us engineer away undesirable gene seems opening a door for a measure of ultimate working out such pressing problem forever. Conversely, we in fact are still left with rampant violence gang, criminal at high level. Ironically, we finally have to gamble on the just law to restrict our unpredictable behavior, most of which carry egregious consequence that all too often can be avoid by obeying a just law. That is to say, honestly, query whether science can provide the solution to the social problem, and whether we would like to obey the just law that is a comparably effective way now.
Finally, the history informs us that we human never would like to obey unjust law insofar as our institution determines the fighting against unjustness for protecting our own benefit. Notable ranging from martin lutherking and Gandhi immediately comes to my mind. Had they concerned themselves about disobeying the unjust law rather than obey such law, the African-American still be easily discriminated without any protection and India still be British colony. Turning next to the feminism, since industrial evolution, by far-reaching going against the unjust law in any realm, the female’s status has so largely improve that women can do anything man do.
In sum, whether obeying the law is up to our inclination to seek a best way for the development of the society. To stabilize the society, we should obey the just law even if we sacrifice individual’s need. To better the society, we should concentrate on the protection for certain group as well. |
