Without ruling out these possibilities, the speaker cannot convince me that the men are more likely to be distressed about having work done than women are.

If so, the advertisement should attract the women patients' attentions to earn more profits. Moreover, whether an individual would go to a dentist depends on many factors such as the cost, the dentist's professional level, as well as the dental clinic's instruments. Only relieving their anxieties is not the best way to attract more patients.

In sum, the speaker's suggestion is based on several unsubstantiated evidence and therefore unconvincing.
