TOPIC: ISSUE17 - "There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws."

In our modern society, with the rapidly increased life complexity and technology, more and more people start to use laws to protect the interest of themselves. Laws now paly an important role in our everyday life, not(no) matter they are just or unjust. In my point of view, we have to obey laws because they are the signal of just, peace and harmonious. We need to try our best to obey and protect just laws. And as a citizen, we are not strong enough to resist unjust laws, our enlightened government will help us to mend the unjust laws.
First of all, what is just laws and unjust laws? In my opinion, just or unjust is decided by people. In every case, there are two sides. The people who win the case maybe happy and think the law is just, but the other side of people won't think so. Because our society always exist some people who neglect the stateliness of laws. Every law cannot be just to both side of people.
In addition, every citizen has a responsibility to obey just laws. As(To) a country, one of the most important things is law, try to imagine, if a country does not enact any law, even the people kill sombody, do all the kind of bad things, they will not be punished, such a country cannot prosperous and powerful of course. For example, if soldiers in the army don't obey the laws of their officier, what is the result? It must be terrible. When the officer order them to shoot enimies, but they go to play cards,(我觉得这里似乎写的有一点随意了） how can the country be peaceful? Such an army will failed fated.
Admittedly, there really exist some unjust laws in our modern society, because everything is （keep） changing, perhaps the law is just years ago, but now during the changes happening on the people apprecieve(?) our world, something was once right and now is wrong. On the other hand, the laws are different from race to race, maybe the law in this race is just according to their customes; but it is not just according to that race because they don't have such customes. So, wether(whether) laws are just or unjust (is) depend on the time and place and some other special conditions. Even the laws are unjust, as a common person, the power of a individual is not enough to disobey and resist them. What we can do is report the unjust laws to legislature. Every legal legislature are capable to change the unjust laws to just.
Moreover, in the early age, when our society is lack of laws, some persons indeed try their best to disobey and resist unjust laws. Martin Luther King was one of the representive. His speaking impress every black man, they support him to win their interest that they deserved. He was so brave to fight with white people and the lasting custom. And as a result he won. He changed the life of the black, he make the black can be treat equaly as the white. Until today, we always memory him.
In conclusion, during the development of our society, just and unjust laws are exist togethher, we citizens have responsibity to obey them and do what we can do to change the unjust laws. Every individual do something what he or she can do for the society to protect and improve laws. I believe our society will be just and peaceful in a short time.
TOPIC: ARGUMENT8 - The following appeared in a memorandum issued by the strategic planning department at Omni Inc.
"Mesa Foods, a manufacturer of snack foods that currently markets its products within a relatively small region of the country, has strong growth potential. Mesa enjoyed a 20 percent increase in profits last year, and its best-selling product, Diabolique Salsa, has had increased sales over each of the past three years. Since Omni Inc. is interested in reaching 14-to-25 year olds, the age group that consumes the most snack food, we should buy Mesa Foods, and concentrate in particular on marketing Diabolique Salsa throughout the country."

The argument is well-presented, but not thoroughly well-reasoned. According to it, the arguer says they should buy Mesa Foods and concentrate in marketing Diabolique Sala throughout the country because Mesa Foods has strong potential and its profits increased 20 percent last year; moreover, its best-selling product Diabolique Salsa has increased sales over each of the past three years. In my point of view, the arguer does not consider many alternatives, I will discuss them in turn.
First of all, the arguer means Mesa Foods has strong growth potential, but he or she does not show us any evidence. And we can see from the argument that its current market（s） is a relatively small region of the country. Though it enjoyed a 20 percent increase in profits last year, we cannot come to the conclusion that its profits will increase in this year and next years. There are many alternative conditions. Perhaps last year their(they) advertise their food on television, so many people buy it. If they don't continuely advertise, the market will be smaller than last year.
Even their maket will be as good as last year, we still cannot say that they will profit in the next years. In the first place, maybe this year their source material of the fast food is more expensive than last year, so their price of the food maybe increased(s), and no more people want to buy it. In the second place, the 20 percent increase in profits maybe not contribute to Diabolique Salsa, its best-selling food, but some other food. Because best-selling does not stand for most profit, perhaps best-selling means lowest price and lowest profit. In the third place, even Diabolique Salsa is the main profitable food, its sales increased during each year of the past three years, the arguer does not supply any evidence to show us its sales will keep increasing in the next years.
In addition, even the above conditions are(do) not exitst, the profit and sale market will be great in the next years, we still cannot get the co(o)nclusion that the arguer says. Of course we know, Omni Inc is interested in 14-to-25 year old group, the arguer does not show us any evidence to prove that the people in this group like eating snack food, he or she does not give any data or statistic to prove this.
Even they really consumes most snack food, does the main market of Omni Inc is the people during that age? Maybe its goal market is old people,题目里给出是针对年轻人的 then pay more attention and money on Diabolique Salsa is not suitable to the company's goal.
Therefore, the author does not supply any persuasive evidence to show that the profit of Mesa Food and its best-selling product will increase during the next years; and he or she does not clearly realize the goal market of Omni Inc, whether the fast food is fit for the company's main customers; and some other conditions. In all, he or she should do more research about the fast food and the company and give a more persuasive project. 好像评分比较注重分析的深度吧 建议每段再稍微进一步分析 |
