Recent years ,with the development of economy, people is becoming more and more conscious of their mental needs. Often, in their spare time , many people will play art or music to relax themselves . Therefore, in some secondary schools, art and music have become must courses for students. In another word, all the students are required to study art and music .However, as far as I am concerned, this decision is not only unnecessary but also a wrong one.
Usually, things could be categorized in two groups, the enjoyable and the unenjoyable. Everyone, regardless of gender and age, has his or her own hobbies. And the children’s interests vary a lot. Some like playing basketball, some like hikings , and some like drawing pictures as well. For whose who love art and music ,learning these courses might be an enjoyable process, while for whose who are not fond of art or music ,or even hate them, learning these courses , I mean art and music ,may be a boring time.
Some people may argue that in order to be successful ,men have to do something unenjoyable. That’s true , I must admit it, however, things might be categorized in two groups in  another way, the necessary and the unnecessary. People always do things either they are enjoyable such as playing football or they are necessary such as learning a language. Since most of us will not earn our living by means of art or music, for the latter I discussed above,learning art and music becomes an unnecessary and unenjoyable thing. so why must they do it? It is totally a waste of time, energy , or even money.
Furthermore, as a saying goes,’interest is the best teacher.’, although learning art or music may bring you some benefits some day in the future,for those who dislikes these courses,their pay may be much greater. You know, how hard it can ever be to spend so much energy on things which he or she dislikes.
Thus , in my personal view, art and music courses such as drawing classes and drum classes should be placed as optional ones. So that, who enjoy art or music could take these courses, and those who show no interest in them can have other choices.
