First of all, the report about the store, which makes me quest, has two flaws about statistic.First, the report is only one store but the most shops of workville, which leads the statistic vague and results it lose the value of survey. From the other angel, the content of report itself comes from the worker who could request for a sick leave just as a pretext in the shop, which make the number of sick leave in previous report higher than this yerar or some worker may be ill in the holiday this year and go hospital, if that, they do not need to ask for a sick leave. the survey of factory, it says that a slight increase about sick leave. If any of above is in the case, the report is no no use for author to hold his opinion.Secondly, the author quotes that factory workers are not satisfied while the store employee are satisfied with what they do. The evidence cited have no business with what the author concern about health and improve morale. As to the satisfied, it will conclude many aspects, including the waves, the social status, the intensity of their labour, the environment of their working place, and the pressure of work. Though it concludes the time of labour, comparing the factors above it obviously not be an significant reason. Finally, if the reducing labour time do improve health and morale, the conclusion asserts that it should reduce to 25 hours even 20 hours, whether the 30 hours also be the choice, the author didn't provide any evidence about this aspect, which make the presentation lose credible. To sum up, thanks to the above discussion, though the author point some evidence to buttress his view, some of those are doubtful. If the author want to hold his opinion, the statistic about the shop of workville should be exact and it needed to exclude the other factors about satisfaction. |
