Would Adolf Hilter starts the World War II without the supports from German civilian? Would the South fight against the federal government in 18th century America without considering the profits of its mass slavery owners? Would Prince Henrique discovery the Cape of Good Hope without the taxpayer's money and public's desire in Portugal? All those seem impossible that Hilter may not be known or Henrique was just a normal prince in the history. It is perfectly clear that the public contribute to the history issues significantly, but how comes we still memorize those heroes in history? The individuals are actually the symbols of the public.

For the study of history, it is vital to understand the background of a specific issue, that is to say, any history movements were happen due to its background and the scenario would be the opposite if in another circumstance. Further, a background should contain the economic, political and even diplomatic issues as a whole. From my points of view, all these three traits of background are decided by the public, in other words, it is the public that directed the history. In this regard, it was the anger of public, the students, business dealers and the peanuts that lead to the storming of Bastille, which ended a monarchy period. It was a worsening economic that force people to repel. And, additionally, without their effort and blood, there would be no constitution in France.

For the reasons of studying history, which from my perspective, is the study of trend and predicting trend as well as maintaining a identity of an ethnic, background is also vital. Armstrong was merely the person that step on the moon, what backed him was the desire of exploring the out space and the wealth from the public. In this regard, studying the then background can help us understand the necessity to explore the moon at that moment and why we never step on it again in 5 decades. The cold war was ended, and people no longer require that strong sense of identity and starts to care about the booming economy. When it comes to the economy downturn, it is also crucial to study the Great Depression from1929 to 1931 to predict a way out the dilemma. It is the major people's will to consume that decides the economy and the bankrupt or loss of profits of sever companies are merely the symbols. That is to say, without Armstrong or the GM, there would exist other people and companies to take their place. But the place of public is crucial and unique and once been taken, the background would be changed. Moreover, is the role of individuals not significant?

Admittedly, the truth is that individuals are also essential and they are the deputies of the public. The motivations from Adolf Hilter or Prince Henique were so strong that we have to treat them differently in the respect of history. It was the eloquent of Hilter and the persistence of Henique combined with their sharing of the same value system with the public that promoted the process of history. Without their performance or existing, the pace of history could be either slower or faster, which is hard to predict. Their contribution to history, though sometimes negatively, should be memorized and studied in order to exam the objective truth and dig the trends that beyond the external phenomenon. People in what characters and value systems could motive the public most dramatically.

In sum, I am glad to see that our historians do count the history process on the public to certain degree, though mostly they public were described as the background instead of specific names. And the heroes that be studied closely are the symbols of the public which enable us to better understand the history and to conclude.
