244"Most societies do not take their greatest thinkers seriously, even when they claim to admire them."

提纲：观点：部分同意
      1.great thinkers的思想往往是超越当代人的思维和理念，而对后世有深远影响的，比如孔子的理念在当时不被当权者和社会主流文化认可，而经由他的学生一代一代地影响后世
      2.社会对great thinkers的思想不太重视是由于受到当权者的思想束缚，而great thinker的思想往往会对当权者不利
      3.即使社会没有重视great thinker，这并不影响他们对社会作出的贡献，无论在过去，现在，还是将来。



Thinker refers to an intellectual who tries to use his or her intellect to study, work, reflect, or ask and answer questions with regard to a variety of different ideas. Some believe that most societies do not take their greatest thinkers seriously from philosophers, politicians and militarists to painters, poets and calligraphers even when the society claims to admire them. In my view, I partly agree with the assertion as discussed below:

In the first place, the great thinkers' extraordinary visions and insightful perspectives about the world exceed the average-level understanding of the contemporary life; therefore causing it's difficult to be accepted by the society. It is facilitated that humans are restricted by the mainstream view in their contemporary era especially when it comes to the innovative field or revolutionary change. One notable example involves that Confucius-the most influential philosopher in the eastern culture-was rejected by the emperors to govern the country in the rule of Confucius’s think and without the support of the highest administrators Confucius was reluctant to disseminate his think by teaching his pupils and expected them would take an impact on the emperors in the further.

In the second place, the perspectives of great thinkers are ignored or weakened by the rulers who are prone to blind their common people avoid of revolution and innovation that usually go against the authority of the government. Perhaps great thinkers did not show adequate respects on the authority of the rulers due to their understanding of the rulers' tricks for blinding people, rendering their impact being restricted and therefore most societies do not take them seriously.

On the contrary, although most societies do not take their greatest thinkers seriously, what they contributed to the society can not be dimmed regardless of the people's attitudes undeniably. History would be more vividly and more easily to be remembered if it is cast by a series of great achievements of thinkers. In Greece, from Socrates to Plato, or from Aristotle to Archimedes, the civilization would bloom with the contribution of these great thinkers, whether in the past, at the moment or in the further, even if some of they were not respected by the mainstream society at that time.

To sum up, it is conductive to realize the merits brought by great thinkers in history, without these thinkers average people would lose their orientation and the society would not make progress, Meanwhile without the positive attitude toward these great thinkers their contribution would be limited or some of them would be discouraged consequently the society would be stagnated.
