51 "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."
只有针对每个学生的需要和兴趣,教育才真正的有意义。
1 General education---fit special needs

+3

Some measure of specialization and flexibility of education which may meet the individual needs as well as interests of each student is of grate importance for any educational system to function, this is the point of the assertion above with which I strongly agree .However, the speaker unnecessarily over-emphasized the centre-focus way of education that an overall view of education has been lost. My points of contention with the speaker involve the range and purpose of education .
I concede that the assertion that effectable education is to be established when individual needs are satisfied-insofar as one advocate is willing to spend significant amount of time and other expenses on a relatively tiny and special group. Simly put, it is much easier for a talented individual student than a common one to gain significant breakthrough in one specially appointed solarly area, what is almost impossible is that letting a student to research mathematics and make a great difference
in the realm which he’s not good at or interested in. Contrarily, one individual student is more likely to research what he like and only when one who concentrates on his research that we can see that great advances can be obtained.

On the other hand, one student who is given the right to set his own curriculum, as with letting him decide his major in school ,is hardly taught intergrateddly and properly and hence a real understanding of a knowledge system cannot be had,and as a result, students become narrow-minded or even worse, that if a student who loves literature so much while avoid studying maths, what terrible results will be inspected if he cannot just figure it out how many characters are there in his writings in the future around the corner? Besides, not every one student can gain a good knowledge in the field he interests, what if he’s intelligent in one subject and is apt to study another one? In this condition, he needs to receive guidance from his parents and teachers.

One striking example of how to balance between centred-education and well-round education involves the curriculum design at colleges. There are several subjects taken as optional courses as well as require courses offerings made avalible each year, and students are to choose from those optional courses while having required courses, making students take advantages of what he actually want or talent in on the one hand, and provide them on the other hand with other fields of expertises necessary.
To sum up, no one boundary of knowledge operates in vacuum, just as no one individual student can study relying on what he likes as a unique way to decide. Otherwise, a large amount of resources will be waste and a board enough perspective can’t be had to study effectively. What kind of education we really need is one who is able to banlance between what is called well-round education and centred education.
