It seems that students nowadays are quiet practical when they draft their curriculums. They tend to eliminate the courses that have little relationship with their major, say, students major in art would not take science courses into consideration, so is the case in many music or medicine major students. This phenomenon could be fatal because it is important for modern people to learn basic science, for it is not only fundamental issues in the present and future, but also is inspiration to other disciplinaries.

Modern world is mainly built upon the basis of science, anyone who lacks of common sense on science will felt aimless in his daily work. Consider that an artist, who is specified in painting, yet is extremely ignorant on the basic science. He does not know how to manipulate the effect of light and color, and take advantage of material that provided by the frontier technology, because he has not learnt physics or chemistry before. And It is the same case in the other field as well. What is more, many master in artist, such as Picasso ,Da Vinci, just to name a few, are scientist as well , their broad sense on science makes a gigantic contribution to their creations in art.

Aside from the influence on the routine work , basic science also served as inspiration to everyone, no matter what his profession is. Mendel used to be a clergyman in a chapel, who has to obey the will of the God. However, he had great interest in nature science since childhood that he received the basic education in the local school, whose curriculums include science. Ironically, he became a Father in the organization of Catholcism , who alleges that it is the God who create the world. However, inspired by the soybeans growed in the garden, he finally discovered the rules of genetics.

To sum up, it is substantial to require our students learning basic science, for it is basic skill as well as inspiration to us both in the short or long term.

Since the modern compulsory school attendance was firstly passed as a law in Germany in 1642, modern education has cultivated millions of people, who has been creating prospering culture and technology. Although the occupation is becoming more and more diverse, which affect people’s mind in education hand in hand that they are pursuing highly specified education. However, it is absolutely wrong for teaching less general subjects and make it up to the preparing for career and jobs. Rounded education will benefit to the personal development and the whole industry .

A generalized education is accrued to students’ personal career in the long term. Maybe preparing for career and jobs in advance is beneficial, yet time will prove that “the more hasty, the less speed”. Graduates may find difficulties in creating new things for his weak basis of knowledge which supposed to aggregate at school. What’s more , his life would be boring and monotonous, since his courses on “unnecessary courses ”, say, music, art , etc, was eliminated .

Furthermore,
the synergy of multidisciplinary is vitally important to the innovation of technology,
to achieve a successful cooperation of related profession, people who are engaged in the industry should have a broad perspective , which is relied on the concrete basic education. Consider that an architect want to make a difference in designation of a museum, he has to take every aspects in to consideration to ensure that his building is a combination of aesthetic and practicality. In order to realize it , he should has a abundant accumulation of knowledge , not just limited in architecture . He has to make reference in other fields, let us say, aesthetics, history, which will inspire him to create. That is call for a profound education in large scale.

Therefore, it is much wiser to enhance our diverse basic education, not to weaken it, because it is critically substantial both for individual and progress in industry world.



2、In university, students should take the history courses no matter what field they study in

Thesis:

Generally, I agree with the statement that it is accrue to we students to learn history whatever field we are in, for it is our past , by learning it we can gain experience and make progress.

Points
1.
Learning history will make us wise, since it is precious experience accumulating by our ancestors .
Ex: brutal history of world wide war, alarmed us that war is the worst way of solving conflicts, we had better to calm down and negotiate the issue we focus on.
2.
Besides, by learning history, we are more likely to innovate and imagine, which is the foundation of civilization.
Ex: scientists have to learn some history of science, the deeds of pioneers may inspire them to breakthrough.

Conclusion:

It is essential for modern students to learn history, which will help them telling right from wrong, and inspire them as well.
