为了提高大学的教学质量,所有的教职员工应该去校外参加一些和他们教的课程相关的工作。

The speaker asserts that all faculties who work in college and university ought to be spend time working outside the academic world which relevant the courses they teach so that the quality of instruction will be improved. In my point of view, it is true necessary to work outside the academic world but not for all faculties.

To some certain realms, the faculties spend time working outside their own professions will be actually improve the quality of instruction. For instance, in the field of mechanical engineering, the courses are always have intimate connection with the pragmatic production. Just as my own major--material formatting and control engineering can be best serve as the example to illustrate the opinion. Only when materials which studied by professors are chosen by the industry factories can the values of the material be revealed, on the contrary, only when we know the need of the factories can we better assure which direction we should to study.
And all this two problems can be solved if the professors in this realm do to work outside.
As a result, the class will become more practical and effective. In a not dissimilar way, as to areas such as electrical engineering, chemistry, medical as well as biology will all benefit from the action that their professors to work in society.


When it comes to the areas such as literature, mathematics and so on, to obtain effective education, working outside may be not the improper way. As is known to us all, knowledge about literature is not able to improve in a short time. It is accumulated little by little with a long time. What is more, literature and mathematics have little direct relationship with the pragmatic production or other society activities . Even when the professors are willing to work outside it will be weak helpful to improve the quality of instruction. For that matter, there is no necessity for the professor in that field to work outside.

In addition, the energy and time of a man is limit, namely, the negative of working outside cannot be ignored. There is no doubt that the time and energy of the professors spend on students will surely reduced if they work outside. Therefore, it is entirely possible that the quality of instruction would be influenced. What is more, the professors may be affected by the bad phenomenon in society. And professors influence students on not only the knowledge but also the morality. Their behaviors are able to determine students' sense of value. If so, whether it is needed to work outside is open to doubt.

To sum up, to some areas such as engineering, chemistry, the faculties work outside can be helpful to improve the quality of instruction at college and university level while when it comes to the literature, mathematics the consequence reveals the contradict sides. Further, the faculties should balance the class and the work outside the college.
