103 "The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lifes."
1,When it is relevant to our daily life, historical study has its value.(better understand)
2,The research of history with none relations of the daily lifes can also be valuable.
3,Future can not be precisely predicted, and in this case, history can be a fortune teller of highly referential value.
A widely accepted idea goes: history can serve as a standard of judgement to the various issues that need to be evaluated. The value of studying history, however, still remains debating that should the field concerned only be those related to our daily lifes or a broader range? The speaker of the issue prefers the former, the statement listed below, however, will show correctness of the later.
To begin with, there is no divergence between the two point when discuss the usefulness of historical study in the field related to our daily lifes. Take economy as a example, when preparing for a long-term project, it is common to review and analyse the data and financial statement of the past, both recent and ancient will be useful. In some academic area, physics, math, art, philosophy and so on, one can get better understanding of the field by studying chronological development of the discipline, not only the contents in the text book. Politics, which requires most efficiency while least inaccuracy, also need experience accumulated from the pioneers. When realizing the effectiveness of Roman Republic's government, lots of nations adopted this method in governing the country, and of course, many of them were highly successful by separating their power. From the evidences above, it is not difficult for us to conclude that the value of historical study in daily concerning field cannot be overlooked.
On the other hand, the research of history with none relations of the daily lifes can also be valuable. The wars, dreadly as they are, seldom break out in most parts of the world. However, study of the wars and tactics used in the battle field of the past shouldn't be treated as a nonsense. During the World War Two, when Nazi Germany launched its ever-victorious army toward Russia, and expected a quick triumph, they get nothing but the fierce cold winter. Finally the German was defeated by Soviet Union as well as the icy defender, which has also helped the Russian fight against Napoleon, the emperor of France. If the Russian didn't realise the importance of their natural ally from the past experience, they may lose the war, at least the wish of winning. On the contrary, if the German had carefully examined the history of Russian wars, they would be more threatening to the their opponents.
In addition, as the future can not be precisely predicted, history can be a fortune teller of highly referential value in most field of life. Weather forecast, a widely aired program on TV, is not only based on the complicated calculation operated by computers of large-scale, but also relied on piles of data and files gained everyday, and this precious documents can predict weathers not just daily, but monthly and annually according to the periodicity saved in it. Others, such as astronomy and geography, utilise the history in the similar way stated above. It is disturbing to imagine the life in a society without reviewing its ancestor's legacy.
In conclusion, history can be functional both in the field relevant to our daily lifes and the area which we seldom concerned about.
