Following the explosive development of the Internet, a great deal of literal information springs up on the web pages. Only by typing the website can a person read news on Times, review a chapter from 'Arrogance and Prejudice' or comment ‘Harry Potter’. As a result, a new term --- eyeball economy --- comes into human daily life. It seems that an excellent writer is more welcome than an admirable speaker nowadays. However, with all aspects carefully considered, I still hold the view that speaking commendably carries more weight than writing well.
To begin with, individual who is adept in speaking are more likely to achieve his /her goal. From business to politics, people frequently emphasize the importance of communication. An experienced and skillful speaker can express his/her viewpoints clearly and fluently so that others can get it without misunderstanding. For instance, Barack Obama, the new appointed president, is a prominent orator. In his election campaign, Obama impressed the public with his enthusiastic and cogent speeches, which surely promote his supporting rate. Undoubtedly, a great speaker is not equal to a great politician. But what we cannot deny is that the powerful speaking is significant on Obama's road to be a president.
Also, speaking well is an art that protects and promotes individual relationship with his/her families and friends. In my hometown, there is an old saying --- ' the truth is not always welcome’. What this proverb means is that people sometimes are hard to accept the truth, such as a criticism, so speakers must be apt at telling unwelcome truths in a smooth way. Without this skill a truth may be a bomb in people's relationship. For example, my older brother wanted to talk with his girlfriend about her arrogance. But he said that directly, which resulted in breaking up. If he were a skillful speaker, her girlfriend would likely accept his suggestion and their love would be more solid.
Certainly, writing well benefits people in some way. First, the praiseworthy writing skill means job opportunities for people. A person may get a position in an auto magazine press with his unique comments on cars. Also, to be the writer of a fashionable novel brings individual the fame. Just think about J.K.Rowlling, who wrote ' Harry Potter' series. But I still deem that articles are not as attractive as the magical voice.
Judging from what have been discuss above , we can reasonably arrive at the conclusion that the speaking art is of great importance, which not only helps people acquire success in their careers but also promotes harmonious relationship in human beings' daily life. |
