没计时,感觉自己很弱:dizzy: ,请大家指教~~~

221"The chief benefit of the study of history is to break down the illusion that people in one period of time are significantly different from people who lived at any other time in history."

The study of history is a complex process and during which people get benefits they want. The statement above is a little partially that the chief benefit of studying history is to recognize that people who live in different periods of time share similarities. Conditions differ from social to individual.

There is no dying that we can detect general character among people of different ages in spite of the significant difference in cultural, time background, or scientific and technological standards. Just like the wheel of history went through different ages, it may be touched by the soil belonged only to that age, but its nature never changed. Because of this, history gives us examples of our precedents, which prevent us from making similar mistakes occurred before. The disruption of Soviet will be a good illustration. Soviet, once the superpower in the word, broke down in 1990 because of its unsuited political and economic system. And the disruption gave us the lesson of that the failure is destined when the government choose the way of autocracy.

Moreover,
what we can directly benefit from studying history is finding the power stimulating the development of a society. And, this power also comes from the similarities of people in different ages to some extend. For example, regardless of the time diversity, people all strive for liberty: Copernicus, who chased the freedom of thought, broke through the blockage of theology and proposed heliocentric theory, which opened up a new era of astronomy; during the American Revolution, residents deeply depressed in the British colony gathered, fought for freedom and finally realized the national independence. Another illustration is the similarity that people through out the history continually chase the comfortable life. This makes our science and technology experience an earthshaking change. For traveling more convenient, there emerged cars, airplanes; for working more efficient, there occurred computers and some other machines; for communicating more timely, there appeared internet…

Our society now become more and more advanced, and it is those similarities shared by people lived in different ages that prevent us from going backwards of repeating the mistakes and at the same time promote the development of the society.

However, on the view of individuals, we can hardly conclude a definite chief benefit of studying history, since it differs from person to person significantly. To writers, the chief benefit of learning history may be to collect materials related to their work; to philosophers, it may be to form a relatively overall value of the world; and to most of the common people, it may just for fun.

To sum up, I agree with the opinion of the statement above when standing in society. But when it goes to a certain person or group, the statement cannot be suitable, since the diversity in the needs of the populace.

The study of history is a complex process and during which people get benefits they want. The statement above is a little partial that the chief benefit of studying history is to recognize that people who live in different periods of time share similarities.

And the disruption gave us the lesson that failure is destined when the government chooses the way of autocracy.

Moreover, what we can directly benefit from studying history is finding the power stimulating the development of a society. Another illustration is the similarity that people throughout the history continually chase the comfortable life. This makes our science and technology experience an earthshaking change. For traveling more convenient, there emerged cars, airplanes; for working more efficient, there occurred computers and some other machines; for communicating more timely, there appeared internet…The similarity in the nature of human accelerate the process of civilization of our society.

However, on the view of individuals, we can hardly conclude a definite chief benefit of studying history, since it differs from person to person significantly. The diversities in age, job, and experience result in different aims and hence the chief benefit of people towards history studying. To writers, the chief benefit of learning history may be to collect materials related to their work; to philosophers, it may be to form a relatively overall value of the world; and to most of the common people, it may just for fun.

To sum up, I agree with the opinion of the statement above when standing in society. Our society now become more and more advanced, and it is those similarities shared by people lived in different ages that prevent us from going backwards of repeating the mistakes and at the same time promote the development of the society.
