TOPIC: ISSUE50 - "In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."

It is looming behind the discussion in Lyceum, it is sparkling in the professor's lessons in university, and it is emitting its light in our home, in the inculcation of our parents. That is education, an essential part of our society. As the core of education is to fully develop one's talent, in my opinion, it is the students, rather than faculty, who should be asked to work outside while they are studying in university

To get a full understanding of education, we should first turn to the essence of education. From my point of view, education has threefold responsibility. To individual, education equips us with knowledge to help us make a living. To society, education provides talented persons who can impel the development of our society. To philosophy, education protects the most precious fortune of human being, justice.

All these three aspects of education will benefit a lot if we require the students to work outside during their university life. For one thing, working outside enable the students to contact with the latest advance of his major in the world, thus if will greatly broaden those sight, which can help students achieve great success in the future.

I once worked in a research institute in my summer holiday. During my working time there, I knew a new of way of designing aircraft which is just put into use recently. I learned that I can hardly touch the latest discovery in school for educators need a long period of time to put practical experience into textbooks. Hence we can only get it from our experiences of working outside.

For another, working outside can acquire future employers' requirements, which can help us reshape our system of knowledge to make greater contributions to the society. Throughout the history, most expertise is derived from people's need, and now, almost the employers'. It is our duty to help meet public's demand and in this way we are making contribution to our society.

Nowadays, the financial crisis advance new requirement of a global bank, which is devised to prevent future crisis. A large number of graduate with banking expertise are required. We can thus allocate more time to the study of banking and enter the newly-established global bank to make the world a better one.

For still another, the way the most essential one, education instruct us why and how to protect justice. Justice can acquire by the relatively parity in social class. And this parity lies in the chance of receiving education. In feudalism, the church's authority is partly sustained by that church control all the education in Europe.

In these days, as fortune is mostly allocated by mental reasons, education makes up a even bigger part in keeping justice. Consider the lovely iPod in our pocket, the newly-published Windows Vista you have just installed in your laptop, the most exciting computer game you are playing all consist most of mental works. Your idea plays a much more important role in deciding the price than the material it used. And education provides us with a comparatively fair means of acquiring that knowledge.

We can learn everything we want in the university; we can learn to devise iPod, code Windows and conceive a new game. Education ensures that we are equal in society. Working outside, the students may be confronted with many injustice thing like nepotism and discrimination and he will find only education is fair to everyone. This will impel the students to study hard.

Accordingly, require the students going outside we will harvest a group of students who know the future development direction in their major, the social requirement of them and the importance of study. Hence we should require the students to work in their spare time outside university.
