While, with our society and civilizationbecome more and more different and complex from the past, we have to face muchmore problems we never suffer before. Therefore, human beings begin studyhistory and want to gain experience and then use those experience to guide themto improve the civilization and deal with those problems. However, there isalways a debate on whether the study of history has value or not if it were notrelevant to our daily lives. As far as I concerned, history could teach humanbeings more, the value of study history is very important for every aspects inour civilization.
First of all, why shall we study history? What benefits could be gained from the study of history? In my opinion, humanbeings study and research history because we want to predict future and hopefor better life. We can gain much more experience from study of history, likehow to keep a stable economy global system, how to communicate with others inefficiency way, how to avoid some natural disaster and so on. The study ofhistory also could help us to deal with social problems like crime. Forexample, the American Civil War which was happens in the 1860s, and tells ushow to deal with the relationship between the whites and blacks. Furthermore, the Chernobyl disaster, which was a nuclear reactor accident at the ChernobylNuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, then part of the Soviet Union, could teach us that we should avoid this disaster happen again so that we have to design a system to protect thecore of nuclear reactor. Thus, human beings need to study history, we needthose experience to improve our civilization.
Secondly, we study history because we wantto improve our lives and civilization. No matter what history we study, ourultimate purpose is to use those experience in our daily lives. Like predictthe future, make some tools to let us lived conveniently like through the telecomhistory, people learn how to make our communication become more and moreeasily, through the history of typhoon, people find out the way to preventtheir property being lost when the typhoon make landfall. For example, as Imentioned before, the Chernobyl Disaster killed and influenced a huge of peoplein many years through the radiation. After that disaster, humans become searcha safety way to use nuclear power, like the Westhouse company create alow-radiation and modularized nuclear power module, it would serve humans in aeffect and safe way.
Admittedly, we could be benefited from thathistory which is relevant to our daily lives; however, study history which isnot about our lives could also benefit us more. Some historical events couldtell us how to justify the evil and the good, how to improve global environmentstatus, how to deal with the world's most persistent social problems. Forexample, the World War II, which brings us death, ruin, injury and so on, couldteach us how to understand others in communicating. And the important is, wecould be learned that peace does not easily come by, and all countries in theworld should take the road of peaceful development. Thus, study history wouldimprove our society and us.
To sum up, the history is always a good teacher or guider for our modern people in every aspects for the reason that it could give us knowledge and information of the achievements in past, predict the future, and reveal the values, morals and many other precious spirits. |
