TOPIC: ARGUMENT161 - In a study of reading habits of Leeville citizens conducted by the University of Leeville, most respondents said they preferred literary classics as reading material. However, a follow-up study conducted by the same researchers found that the type of book most frequently checked out of each of the public libraries in Leeville was the mystery novel. Therefore, it can be concluded that the respondents in the first study had misrepresented their reading habits.

In this argument, the arguer concludes that the respondents in the first study which says that most citizen prefer literary is incorrect since another study found that the mystery novel was most borrowed by people. I found the argument unconvincing in several important respects.
First of all, the study conducted by the University of Leeville show that the respondents prefered literary classics as reading material and automatically assumes that reading literary classics is their reading habits.Since the study is conducted by the University of Leevill , the respondents may be are all students. We do not have materials can explain the situation they are inquired. The students probably do not show their real thought, and maybe they  just lie about their reading habbit to give a good impression to the university. Since the author has failed to account for this possibility, the claim that the respondents reading habit most consitute of literary classics is not reasonable.
Secondly, the fact the type of book what most frequently checked out of public libraries was the mystery novel can not draw the conclusion that all people like reading mystery novel. For a lot of people, especially the students, them go the library to borrow the books which they do not use usually  or for their homework. There are a lot novel fans between high school students , since novels are always short and attracting. And the students can not have enough money to buy the books all they want to read. So they choose a cheap way to borrow them  from the library. Without ruling out such possibilities, I cannot accept the arguer's point of reading habbits.
Last but not least,  people preferring literary classics and borrowing novel from libraries is not incompatible. Peolpe can buy literary classics from book store and borrow novel from library. As a matter of fact, the literary classics are worth to collect and the change speed of novel is so fast that no one can afford to buy all the novels republiced.
To sum up, the arguer's conclusion about people's reading habbit is not well supported as it stands. To better access the problem, I would need to know the different reading habbit of  people in different fields ,ages and distance. I would also need to know what they like or dislike and get the detail about it.

In this argument, the arguer concludes that the respondents in the first study which says(which says这个句子好像有点问题) that most citizen(citizens) prefer literary is incorrect since another study found that the mystery novel was most (加frequently通顺点吧)borrowed by people. I found the argument unconvincing in several important respects.

Since the author has failed to account for this possibility, the claim that the respondents reading habit most consitute of literary classics is not reasonable.(严重错误,你这样不就是跟作者的观点一致了???作者怀疑第一个调查,你也怀疑,大错特错)
Secondly, the fact the type of book(books) what most frequently checked out of public libraries was the mystery novel can not draw the conclusion that all people like reading mystery novel. For a lot of people, especially the students, them go the library to borrow the books which they do not use usually  or for their homework. There are a lot (of)novel fans between high school students , since novels are always short and attracting. And the students can not have enough money to buy the books all they want to read. So they choose a cheap way to borrow them  from the library. Without ruling out such possibilities, I cannot accept the arguer's point of reading habbits.

题目都没有审清楚,大忌啊!
前面两断分析都有问题,建议楼主好好看下题,列个提纲出来,
第三段算是抓住一点了
重要的逻辑错误没有出来!
审题!
