8.20 創意（being creative）是否比計畫（planning carefully）更能find the best solution to a problem

Nowadays, people always play a great emphasis on creative thinking because it is hard to obtain and also may help us to find better solutions to problems or issues. Indeed, a lot of thorny problems or issues ranging from social science to physical science have been solved by someone’s creative thoughts or advice. In my opinion, however, being creative doesn’t work well in providing the best solution to a problem without careful plan.

No one can deny that the origin of creative is careful plan or thinking. Do you believe that the fans, which are used to cool you down under the hot weather, are invented by someone without doing any experiments or any knowledge about physics? Do you think that the refrigerators you use everyday to keep foods fresh are generated by someone’s unplanned and creative thought? Do you still believe that the televisions which you watch almost everyday are created by someone’s fancy? Even the famous scientist Albert Einstein has told us his theories mostly are based on others’ thoughts or ideas. So if you want to obtain brilliant ideas or creative thinking, the things you should do are to organize your mind, plan carefully and keep thinking.

Moreover, only being creative and planning carefully which collaborate can achieve the best solution to a problem. For instance, in software engineering, we have a lot of steps to guarantee that our project can move on correctly and smoothly. Firstly, the software architecture designers have to interview the project’s clients in order to acquire the project requirements, and then they will analyze the materials to provide feasibility report and architecture designs. After that, all those designs will be passed to computer programmers to code, debug and test. Finally, the project also needs to be run in real-world environment to evaluate its stability and performance. Of course, in the procedure, a lot of people would contribute their creative thoughts and ideas to make the project perfect. But without the careful plan, I believe that nobody will satisfy the outcome of the project and maybe that will be a disaster for the project.

In conclusion, given the facts that being creative comes from careful plan, and that being creative and careful plan are two dominant factors of finding the best solution to a problem, I conclude that only when we are creative and plan carefully, we will solve the problem perfectly.
