Issue51 Education 第1篇 让砖头来得更猛烈些吧!

Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.

提纲大概是
1.Needs and interests are important provocation and impetus for study which definitely makes study effective.
2.Merely focus on one's interests and needs will narrow the breath and depth of one's knowledge.
3.education should not designed to meet students interests and needs but to lead them find the interests and needs in knowledge.

As the speaker claims that if education is specifically designed to meet their interests and needs, it will be more efficient for student to attain knowledge. As I concede, it's true that students will learn more and faster from which they are interested in. However, I think the speaker overemphasizes it and overlooks the necessity of the generallization of education which is fundamental for all the students and should not be only designed for individual needs.

Admittedly, needs and interests are important provocation and impetus for study which definitely makes study effective. Since it's natural that people pay more atention on what they like most and need most, students will be more active on the subjects they like and intend to spend more time on them which allows students fully develop thier own talents. As a case in point, Mozart, who is considered one of the most brilliant musician, was found revel in music at an early age and was given special music trained by his father, which helped him fully reveal his music gift. On the other hand, the absence of interests and needs will have negetive effect on education efficeint. Today, many students consider study a burden and pressure, gennerally because they find no interest in the subjects that they are learning and even think what they learn from books are useless. This passive attitude makes student less willing to study.

However, if education is merely focus on one's interests and needs, it will narrow the breath and depth of one's knowledge. Because individual interests and needs is limited which may not cover all the essential aspects of knowledge. Like arithmetic, which not all the students show no interest in, is so fundamental that it has permeated in our everyday life. If someone simply abandon it for lack of interest, he or she will find giving change a difficulty. Although this is an extreme example, we can see that the interests and needs will blind students to the importance of the generalization of knowledge, which will narrow their minds and make them less capable to adapt the real world.

Furthermore,I think education should not designed to meet students interests and needs but to lead them find the interests and needs in knowledge. For example, one student may initially consider that computer is too complicated to master and have no interest in it. But after showing some interesting application of computer, he or she may change the mind and consider using computer a attractive thing rather than a rough job. It suggests us that the first disinterest can be change by the conducting of education and students may not truly know what they need. Therefore before given students a general view of the whole knowledge system, it's not probable to teach them only what they want, which may hamper their further study.

All in all, I think education is not necessary to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.Instead, it should pay more attention on how to give students a systematic ken on the whole. Also, as interests and needs will make education more efficient, school could offer some specifically designed programms which give more choice to students and enhance their interests in learning.
