TOPIC: ISSUE 51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."
WORDS: 415          TIME: 1:32:08          DATE: 2006-2-7

I agree to the speaker' claim that education should be specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student. For the purpose of education is to assist students to develop on the aspect they need and interest in. Sometimes, this design is unnecessary before a person really knows what is needed and interested in.

Since born to this world, people begin to learn skills and knowledge to survive in this world. The process of learning is the education they accepted, including the basic information about life, such as how to justify the color, how to dress up self, and how to speak native languages, etc. These are fundamental skills people have to use to communicate with the environment around them,   are default standards obeyed by all people, and so they do not need to be designed for individuals.

Moreover, at the beginning people access to the nature and social sciences, the education designed for each individual is unnecessary either. In primary schools and even in junior high school, student just start to approach some realms of nature and social sciences, which they actually do not know what these knowledge are. They need such a period like this to have an approximately understanding about these treasure of human, and then find out what they need and are interests in. If they have never heard the names of sciences, how could they know they would be attracted by some of them one day?

On the other hand, the educations in colleges should be designed for individuals as they wish. The mental capacity and intelligence of college students have grown insofar as they can exactly identify their talent and interests. If schools order such students to accept curricula decided by officials, their time and energy will be wasted, which should be spend on courses they need. It harms the development of the students, since the compelling curricula will make them uncomfortable and their interested fields can not be advanced for lacking of time and energy. In addition, such education will make students inefficacious neither in what they are asked to learn nor in what they are interested in. It contradicts to the ultimate purpose of education is to cultivate people with great abilities.

In sum, the principles of education are different for diverse levels of students.
The elementary education should seek the common points to build the basic quality of individuals, and at the senior levels, people should be given the freedom to choose what they want to learn.

首先,你的字数有点少!

I agree to the speaker' claim that education should be specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student. For the purpose of education is to assist students to develop on the aspect they need and interest in. Sometimes, this design is unnecessary before a person really knows what is needed and interested in.

Since born to this world(不太肯定,born on this world), people begin to换成should或need to 这样觉得是必需去学习基本技能) learn skills and knowledge to survive in this world(may be "adapt to the environment surrouding them" is better). The process of learning is the education they accepted(received),把整句话改为 The primary way of learning is to receive education. including the basic information about life, such as how to justify the color, how to dress up self, and how to speak native languages, etc. These are fundamental skills people have to use(master) to communicate with the environment around them,   (这边怎么又冒出一句话不知你这后一句说啥,而且应另起新句)are default standards obeyed by all people, and so they do not need to be designed for individuals.

Moreover, at the beginning people access to the nature and social sciences, the education designed for each individual is unnecessary either. In primary schools and even in junior high school, student just start to approach some realms of nature and social sciences, which they actually do not know what these knowledge are. (for r example~~~~)They need such a period like this to have an approximately understanding about these treasure of human, and then find out what they need and are interests in. If they have never heard the names of sciences, how could they know they would be attracted by some of them one day?(这段再扩充点就更好了)

你的文章中议论部分够,但是举例说明部分少,如果多添些例子,你的作文会更充实些

"Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."

Education has the responsibility for exploring the students’ talents and their interests, but it does not mean that education should meet every student's individual needs and interests. Because we should take into account the money and the resources which we must take good use.

On the one hand, as for an eligible teacher, one must try one's best to answer the students' questions according to their needs or interests, which is an important process to develop the student's talent on one field. Moreover, the educators should respect the student's interest and encourage them to move on by his or her great efforts. There is a typical example to support my point of view. Faraday, a great physical scientist, showed a terrible interest in electricity and magnetism, who had been educated by his teacher David. David gave Faraday the right direct, plus his own gift in this field, and Faraday discovered the electrical-magnetic effect, a famous discovery in the physics. That is, the good teacher's lead and the student's interest may create a miracle.

On the other hand, if the education's purpose only to meet the individual needs and interests of each student, what a horrible phase we could ever meet! The government must budget how much money on education and provide how many teachers to meet every student's needs and interests. That would be a great waste and it is totally not necessary. The education's real purpose is to teach the students how to think, how to study, how to criticize, how to create, and how to communicate. With these basic skills, one can think for oneself, be self-study, pick the useful information through lots of ones and criticize them with one's justicial attitudes, and learn to corporate with the partners. I believe even if one did not meet one's needs and interests in the school, one also can achieve great success through one's efforts in the society. There is an example following.

Watt, the inventor of steam engine which directly leaded to the industrialization, had a huge accomplishment without meeting his interests in the school; otherwise, he even did not go to the school. When he was young, he saw the steam blow the spot up when water was boiling, which was a common thing attracting Watt very much. Through the period as an apprentice, he accumulated so much experience. And when the time is right, he picked up his interest again, using the experience, finally he invented the steam engine.

In addition, there are a lot of instances about the great scientists develop their interests out of school. Edison, the great inventor in the world, invented more than one thousand things. That was amazing! How can a person invent so many things in his short life? Of course, it must be attributed to the knowledge he learned in the school, the experience in the society and his interests.

Above all, in my point of view, education should provide the students the way to think, to study, to criticize, and teach the students the basic knowledge. With these, students can achieve their interests through their endless efforts.
