People recognize a difference between children and adults. What events (experiences or ceremonies) make a person an adult? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your answer


There is no widely acceptable standard to distinguish the differences between adults and children. Many people may think the physical maturity an important symbol. Conversely, I advocate the spiritual maturity is the critical mark. Some teenagers who development early may have a mature bodies apparently. But from their behaviors and the way they solve problems, you may find out that they are still children. Basically, critical thinking, independence, the sense of self-responsibility, are the features that make adults differ from children.

Facing the challenges and difficulties of life and work without the help from parents or teachers, adults must have the ability of critical think. Life is a series of choices. You should choose the university you apply, the job you do, the city you live in, the person you spend your rest life time with and so on. If you can not think them independently or have your own opinions about it, you will lose yourself and never see the true color of life.

Until you are independent will not know what real life is. When you take part-time jobs to pay for your tuitions, you understand the value of money; When you make dinner by yourself, you know the hardship of housework; when you are ill and no one take care of you , you find the importance of family. Teenagers should live independently as early as possible, for it can promote them become mature sooner.

No doubt, adults must have the sense of self-responsibility. The responsibilities upon adults are various, the responsibility to abide by the law, the responsibility for marriage, the responsibility for family and so on. Among them the most essential one is be hold accountable to his or her actions. If one can not bear the full responsibility for the consequences of his or her actions, other people will not trust him or her. And he or she can not build a healthy relationship to other people.

In conclusion, spiritual developments are the key factors make children to become adults. When they are independent, solve problems by themselves, take responsibilities of their behaviors, they are mature.
