ISSUE4 - "No field of study can advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study."


In the wake of development of technology, our society is changing rapidly. Every field of study has advanced monumentally since the second technological revolution. Does it really like the speaker's assertion that no field of study can develop significantly without the outside knowledge and experience? I can't totally agree with the speaker. My reasons are as follows.
  History tells us that, in the elementary period of development, certain studies can grow up rapidly without the outsiders' help. For an entirely new realm, there is so many deficiency and unknowns. Although it’s hard to some extent, people can contribute a lot from his study field. It is because there are so many things we don’t know that it is more likely to make a breakthrough from these fields. Take Newton for example. In his era, physics had not developed maturely. People even did know why an apple can fall from the tree by itself. Newton found this process accidentally; however, he immediately noticed this phenomenon and finally invented the law of gravity.
Another good example is the development of computer. At the beginning of computer, these calculating machines are ponderous and their calculating speed is relatively low. After merely four decades, today’s computer has the powerful ability we cannot imagine decades ago. All these examples have demonstrated that at the beginning process, it is more likely to achieve a rapid progress. The arbiters in different realms had made significant advance in their study fields without the help of other outsiders. Maybe it is because of the tremendous of unknown things that provide arbiters many chances to devote energies to their love fields.
  While conceding that studies can advance without the outsiders, today’s study become more and more depend on other fields. With the development of science and technology, it becomes harder for today's people to achieve fantastic fruition like their predecessors. In today's world, many valuable realms have been studied widely and deeply. It seems more difficult for contemporary people to accomplish brilliance without the help of outsiders. In today's world, more and more disciplines become to come together. We can also take computer engineering for example. It is true that today’s computer is advancing rapidly as ever before; however, it becomes to more rely on other scales. Flash, a popular software, depends highly on the ability of painting. Physics become more and more rely on the advance of industry. For the experimental instruments are needed to be accurate. Without these instruments, the physicists seem to be mediocre.
In sum, I fundamentally agree with the speaker's assertion. Nowadays, different techniques become to stimulate our society mutually. It seems to be harder for us to take a significant development without the outsiders' help. There is a new requirement for contemporary scientists that they should know more and more knowledge beyond their major.
