There is an on-going debate over whether the video camera or the written records can provide us a more important form of documentation.(作者是想表达摄影机是更重要的一种形式吧,你那样表达有奇异吧?or the written records 不太对) Some people would claim that due to the convincing and accurate record (records) the video camera makes, video camera is more important than the written records, while others insist that written records can provide a more detailed and rational record than the video camera. In my view, both of them have different advantages that the other cannot overwhelm so they are of the same important(importance吧?of 后面应该跟名词) in our society.
To begin with, the video camera indeed can record our contemporary life in a vivid form. The development and use of the video camera have changed our daily life in many aspects. First, video camera provides us direct visual information of the remote event. Now we can understand how the Great Wall looks like from the video in a few minutes if we had never been to the Great wall instead to imagine from the depiction of the book. Or we can know the battle situation from the video that was recorded in the battlefield, or we can know some special animals living in the desert in the weird way. Second, from some precious history record, we can also know what happened years ago. One apt illustration of this point involves that now we Chinese can watch our former chairman Maozedong from the video, and we can also know how he looked like and what he did in the national ceremony. Moreover, using the video record can provide us some accurate evidence that the criminal cannot deny. Nowadays we are usually using the video materials to be creditable evidence in the court and this evidence cannot be changed or cheated.(三个分论点支持 video camera 可以提供更生动的内容,这些内容是写的东西无法展现的,但总觉得犯罪那个有点问题,但又说不出为什么,讨论一下)
In addition, although people are more and more likely to record things in a video form, written records still have their own advantages. First, written record provides people a more convenient way to use it. A case in point is that we can record and read books in the bus whenever we want, but we cannot record in video or watch the video record so conveniently for we need some equipments and the electricity. When we go somewhere that is gone of electricity or our battery is low, we cannot use video. Second, there are many things that are not suitable to record in video, such as the science principal and knowledge. It is impossible to record all the science theories and knowledge in a video form and use it to teach our students, but we can learn the knowledge from books systematical. Last but not least, written records sometimes can provide us a deeper and more comprehensive view of the fact. Things happened in this world are so complex and sometimes are dissembled. From the video, we may see what had happened. However, from the written record that recorded by some experts we can understand the fact better.
Finally, in today's high technology and rapidly developed society, both forms of record are needed and cannot be replaced. We need the video camera to record the facts thus we can get a direct view of them. It will be much easier to record an important ritual by video than to record in paper. However, we cannot understate the effects of the written records. We must realize that, in history, written record is the mainstream of the record forms, and most of the history records are in paper. And today, there are many things that need to be recorded in paper, such as the news or the complex things that only the video cannot show their essence.(我觉得这段更像一个结论段,而不是理由段,你说呢?)
In conclusion, there is no easy solution to such a complex issue. However, due to the reasons mentioned above, we could draw a safe conclusion that both video and written records are equally important in our life |
