7/3   In order to solve the problems of the present and future, it is necessary to understand the past.:

We humankind live in the present and look forward to the future while we are likely to ignore the past. Instead, what it had been plays a key role in coping with many current problems and serves as a mirror to help us judge whether we do so is justified or not.

On one hand, we obtain experience and lessons from the past failure or history and take them into consideration to deal with the current difficulty, because past makes us realize the reason why the failure happens and stimulates us to take it into practice. For instance, after the Great Britain monarchy government ruled the former 13 American colonies, America was restricted to shackles in both economy and liberty, even in politics. Americans thought over this awkward and embracing situation they were forced to be in so that they decided to launched the American Revolution to fight for their freedom and autonomy in many aspects. What triggers them to have defended themselves and the nation originates from their thought about the bloody and cruel British governors' oppression and exploitation to them and their necessity for independence and liberty.

On the other hand, we create our thinking way or pattern of behavior, to some extent, from our understanding and analysis of the past, which serves as a mirror to help us avoid the same blunder. There’s a law in psychological field study, known as the Law of Effect, namely, if an action is not rewarded or punished, it’s likely to repeated. If a boy is bitten by a dog when he feeds it, he is unwilling to repeat it again, because the memory of being damaged by a dog is imprinted and deeply understood by him. Thus, the past will direct what you will do in face of some circumstance. However, our thinking way is prone to constricted to a limited spectrum, for we often follow the fixed stream of thoughts. In the past, we believe only youth are supposed to get education to develop their potential and do contribution to the national construction, but later people realized education is not the patent only for youth and the old folk also has right to enjoy the delight in being educated. Then open universities were introduced in about 1970s to react to this thought, which declares the right of adults of all ages to take higher education. Thus, sometimes we just follow the main stream to believe that the young should learn something, but have we ever pondered over the reason why only the young can enjoy this noble right? Maybe fully understanding the past can play a crucial role in making up our weakness in thinking so that we can jump out of the thinking norm.

To sum up, the past shouldn’t be cast away in our mind, from which we gain lessons and experience to avoid making the same blunders in the future and create our behavior pattern and thinking way , sometimes even enlarge it.

It is more important to reserve land for human beings than for endangered animals.2 y



Earth provides limited land for various creatures: human beings, animals and plants, etc, so it is a lore of some kind to allocate land properly and make good use of it. Some people believe it necessary to reserve some land for humankind while others think endangered animals should be endowed with land. As far as I’m concerned, I agree with the former one for the following reasons.


Firstly, reserving some land to people is helpful to relieve the fact that some areas are too densely populated, which will do good to both human beings and the evolution of the society. If many citizens are restricted to a small district, they will not be well-being and truly content with such quality of life. It may occur that noises, traffic congestion and thick tail gas sending out from vehicles and other negative effects will disturb people’s life. If human beings live in such a severe condition, how do they concern about and ensure to protect endangered animals? It’s nonsense.
However, reserving land will ease the serious circumstance and advance the development of the area in some field if dense population occurs. Some people can migrant to those reserved land where also allows some to establish and cultivate some new industries, which will disperse the population, raise living standard and foster development.

Also,. reserving land for people can benefit endanger animals as well besides human beings themselves, because people can make efforts to protect animals by some means. It goes without saying people will gain profits in succeeding in developing certain industries. However, reserved land can offer people to constitute a research institution to probe into the underlying reason for the extinction of some species and find a solution to it. People also can establish a museum to display some fossils and advocate people to cherish some endanger species. Even government can open a zoo there to try to multiply endangered animals artificially. Thus, reserving land for people can do good to endangered animals, for people can manage the land well and strive to rescue them.

To sum up, it’s sensible to reserve land for people to solve the problem that some areas are too crowded with a view to raising living standard, which underlies the protection of other species. Also, humankind can appropriately use and manage land to benefit themselves and endangered animals through efforts.

However, requiring students to attend courses for 11 months one year can forcefully ensure that students will keep acquiring knowledge and make advancement in understanding certain field of subjects, which is conducive to imprint lore on their memory and obtain a deeper comprehension.

Also, it will improve students' efficiency in study if they take long time to attend classes, because teachers will give some pieces of advice and suggestion to them and class discussion plays a key part in understanding and expanding views. It is certain that students have to learn on their own in the vacation without teachers' assistance and class discussion, which are prone to lead them lost in the direction of advancing towards research and academic analysis and weaken the great atmosphere of studying just because of lacking teachers' help and discussion after school. On the contrary, teachers will direct students to the right point in research and indicate their weakness and disadvantages so that students will continue the academic research along the correct way, clearly realize what they are not good at and try to correct or smooth over them.

All in all, a better and effective education necessitates such 11 months of attending classes in one year, for it contributes not only the great state of students but also the high efficiency in study.

One’s life is a process of long-life learning, for we have to address problems with knowledge and foster our innate traits through it. That’s the reason why parents are likely to bring their kids to school to receive education, but they maybe ignore some other source into lessons in our daily life, namely, sports activities. I firmly believe it is one of the crucial sources of lessons to forge people’s characteristics and acquire knowledge.

First of all, people are apt to be a warrior with strong persistence if they participate in some activity for long time, because they have to endure some pain physically and the embarrassing state of not advancing mentally. Thus, if they want to conquer such an activity instead of bowing to the failure and breakdown, they will not persist and spare no efforts to exercise until the light is cast on the way to triumph. There is an old saying that ‘Roman was not built in one day’, and I think it is the never-give-up spirit that predisposes Romans to establish their own country. Analogous to the perseverance of Romans for building country, sports can also hone a person with persistence for winning the game or finishing the full distance.

In addition, sports activities encourage people to surpass the limitations set before them so that they will be more confident. Some people feel inferior to others, because they just belittle their capacity and do not dare to have a try, but sports will teach them to change such a view to their ability and extremity. For instance, the 800-metre race is universally carried out as a standard test item for girl students in most of the secondary schools in China, because girl students are prone to be beat and have difficulty adjust breathing when they have run about 400 meters, which is a limitation to them. Thus, such an item drops a hint that someone will be more progressively strong and confident if they achieve such an item.


Finally, people will get to realize the importance of preparation of sports if they undertake some activities, which will have a positive effect on their life. It goes without saying that participants are easily hurt in sports if they do not do preparation work. Similarly, students cannot efficiently catch the content teachers instruct in class if they do not preview; Interviewee cannot elaborate his or her advantages and traits if they do not prepare. Therefore, we are likely to put the notion of preparation into our daily study and work, because it is genuinely a good habit learnt from sports.

To sum up, even if sports is a common activity, it is a great source of lesson for people to hone the characteristic, get educated and form a good habit, because people can experience themselves and try to train themselves to be full-developed man from it.
