8月18日 20100813NA Do you agree or disagreewith the following statement? More and more people spend too much money ontheir pet (dogs, cats and others), although there are better uses for thesemoney. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

With the improvement of quality of life, more and more people tend to keep pets for entertainment, which requires an increasing expense on their food, health, etc. Some people argued that it is wasteful and there are better uses for these money, while others do not agree. Personally, I support the latter one and I think the additional money paid on pets is a wise investment for a family.

First of all, pets can make people healthier, both mentally and physically. Dogs or cats are the best friends of people. Making people happy seems to be their duty. Especially when they are in a bad mood because of work or other things, the pets will try the best to comfort them, for example, they may jump into their brace, look at them sincerely and lick their hands softly. Moreover, if there is a dog in a family, taking a walk after dinner will become an essential part of their life gradually, and then they may find themselves far away from hospital and doctors.

Meanwhile, it is also helpful for the education of a child if keeping a dog or cat at home. Growing up with a dog gives children a chance to know the process of development of life and teaches them to respect life. According to a report, children familiar with a pet animal are more likely to play a positive part in their life, they will show more responsibility and it is easier for them to get well along with others.

Besides, pets are loyal bodyguard for their owner, especially children and oldster. They have an accurate sense of hearing and touch, and they are sensitive to any danger. If there is an emergence such as a fire in their family, they will send out a warning and help their family out in time.

All in all, pets perform a very important role in our daily life, and we benefit a lot from them. So the extra money spend on them is necessary.
