Issue 51
Education has aroused great concern aroundpeople all over the world nowadays since it is widely identified as a key factor in determining the global futureto some extent. Admittedly, when the education is specifically designed to meetindividual needs and interests of the students, it is truly effective.Nevertheless, in my point of the view, student-oriented education poses certain risks under somecircumstances.

It is true that people oriented principle isplaying an important role in developing the personality of the individual andthe significance of his or her life, which is the basic architecture of a lifewhile the rest is the ornamentation and decoration of the structure. Just as apopular proverb written by Albert Einstein goes, Interest is the bestguide. As we all know, he is a little afterward in his childhood study yet it is hisinterest that made him query Newtons classic mechanics byputting forward Theory of Relativity, give a perfect interpretation of thephotoelectric effect and win Noble Prize for Physics of 1921.What is more, although Nicolaus Copernicus originally studiedmedical science, he became interested in astronomy in his college study andfinally achieved a famous heliocentric theory, which is a milestone in the historyof astronomic development. By teaching students in accordance of their aptitudeand interest, school has effectively trained people with expertise in all fields and givenfull play to the role of talented people for the society. Too much focusing onscores while ignoring the interests of students may make them lose confidenceand motivation Rather than to pour information and knowledge, the effectiveeducation enhances the natural development of the growing students and providesthem good opportunities for expanding interests.

Beyond thisconcession, however, winking at students’ unreasonable desires would result in chaos ineducation. Obviously, lots of students are not capable to find out what he or she is reallyinterested in and their interests and needs may be changing in different stagesof life. Having no interest in mathematics does not mean there is no need totake math class. As the head of chemistry at my university once said (and I paraphrase):”I can only research what I do and tell you what I know exactly because thereare so many who have come before me to whom I can turn for other basicknowledge. I also hope your interest in learning was encouraged greatly by my wordsbut even if each person can hold their knowledge to add one small rung to thelatter and then together we can climb to the moon, I am still one smallest partof it. It is really difficult to satisfy all of you.” This illustrates thepoint that it is an impractical and meaningless plan to meet the needs andinterests of each student with the limited number of teachers.

Without asociety that recognizes the importance of effective education, students becomeinward-looking and aimless, and eventually the societybecomes inefficient. Since the education is truly effective when it meets needsand interests of the students, schools should encourage students to find outown interests and give it into full play by setting up scholarshipand prize, different kinds of elective courses. On the other hand, it would beuseful to attach great significance to the compulsory courses according to theeducation target to lay a sound foundation by strikinga balance between society’s long-range goal and students’ personal needs and interests.

Education has aroused great concern around people all over the world nowadays since it is widely identified as a key factor in determining the global future to some extent. Admittedly, when the education is specifically designed to meet individual needs and interests of the students, it is truly
effective. Nevertheless, in my point of the view,
student-oriented education
poses certain risks under some circumstances.

It is true that people oriented principle is playing an important role in developing the personality of the individual and the significance of his or her life, which is the basic architecture of a life while the rest is the ornamentation and decoration of the structure. Just as a popular proverb written by Albert Einstein goes,
Interest is the best guide. As we all know, he is a little afterward in his childhood study yet it is his interest that made him query Newtons classic mechanics by putting forward Theory of Relativity, give a perfect interpretation of the photoelectric effect and win Noble Prize for Physics of 1921(
复杂句式用的很好,但是后面这个两个谓语givewin是一样的么,都是Einstein,还是一个事Theory of Relativity,或许应该改成这样giving a perfect interpretation of the photoelectric effect and winning Noble Prize for Physics of 1921,可以组内讨论下).What is more, although Nicolaus Copernicus originally studied medical science, he became interested in astronomy in his college study and finally achieved a famous heliocentric theory, which is a milestone in the history of astronomic development. By teaching students in accordance of their aptitude and interest, school has effectively trained people with expertise in all fields and given full play to the role of talented people for the society. Too much focusing on scores while ignoring the interests of students may make them lose confidence and motivation Rather than to pour information and knowledge, the effective education enhances the natural development of the growing students and provides them good opportunities for expanding interests. 这段是正面论证注重学生兴趣的必要性和好处,举了
EinsteinCopernicus两个例子,语言流畅,表达清楚,赞一个)
Beyond this concession, however, winking at students’ unreasonable desires would result in chaos in education. Obviously, lots of students are not capable to find out what he or she is really interested in and their interests and needs may be changing in different stages of life. I also hope your interest in learning was encouraged greatly by my words but even if each person can hold their knowledge to add one small rung to the latter and then together we can climb to the moon, I am still one smallest part of it. It is really difficult to satisfy all of you.” This illustrates the point that it is an impractical and meaningless plan to meet the needs and interests of each student with the limited number of teachers.

Without a society that recognizes the importance of effective education, students become inward-looking and aimless, and eventually the society becomes inefficient. Since the education is truly effective when it meets needs and interests of the students, schools should encourage students to find out

into full play by setting up scholarship and prize, different kinds of elective courses. On the other hand, it would be useful to attach great significance to the compulsory courses according to the education target to lay a sound foundation by striking a balance between societys long-range goal and students personal needs and interests.
