机经09.09.10 It is only worth watching movies that can teach us something about real life, agree or disagree?
One of the most popular pastimes today is movie-going. I’m fascinated with nearly all kinds of movies, from romantic ones to the fantastic, from the comedies to tragedies. When there’re some people claiming that it is only worth watching movies that can teach us something about real life. I, given the chance, prefer to endorse that the movies which can’t teach us lessons should also have consideration.
Commonly, people tend to choose the films which are closely bond to their life. When I go astray or feel frustrated, the movie called A Little Princess companying with me when I was in childhood would remind me of trusting myself and the people around me. The film seems realistic by telling a story about a girl living in tiny old attics and dressing in rags with firm belief that the world is full of love. I always make myself be patient in tribulations by replaying the movie saved in my lap-top.
However, reasons people watch films are not constricted to get encouragement. Movies are the most fascinating and easiest escape means from increasing pressure, which comes from family, school, working place and society. Combined with acoustic and visual effect, movies are definitely more appealing to the audience who has exhausted themselves in the real world. Why do children like Harry Potter? There’s no magic in real life at all. Through watching the vivid picture on the screen which let us immerse ourselves in fiction, we can approach the magic world only appears in our imagination and feel it clearly.
Moreover, the movie called Titanic had been shown in 1997, why are most of us eagerly looking forward the 3-D one which will be on several months later? I guess that the 3-D effect attracts us. The movie producers add more high-tech to films, making them become more wonderful. I have seen such kind of movies like Harry Potter 7 a month ago and really enjoy the magic effects which add more charm to the films.
In conclusion, movies with realistic themes do teach us something, but we don’t watch films only for this. The worthwhile means differently from people to people. There’re variety of reasons why movies are so popular, we can’t just form our opinions hastily that it is only worth watching movies that can teach us something about real life. The movies which are directed delicately are all worth appreciating.
