The notion that honor code reduces the number of cheaters in examination in colleges and universities seems at first glance to be an obvious conclusion. After all, the arguer bases on the survey that most of students asserted they could be less likely to cheat with an honor than without, the evidence that the number of cheaters represents the real number of individuals who did plagiarism, and the unwarranted assume that this honor system is definitely reasonable and effective. However, the conclusion may mask other potentially more problems of the honor code.

First of all, albeit the number of students reported cases of cheating is decreasing, that of students who really do plagiarism may be more than what reported. Someone does not be caught by supervisor, some other does not be reported because person who saw him cheating is his intimate friends, or supervisors are cheating with students. That all these cases are not included in the report result in a unbelievable conclusion.

The argument above is weakened by the survey which does not include how much members were invested and their grades, sex, and academic performance. As a result , it is less evident to support arguer's position. For example, if students invested are from a excellent school, the members who cheat in examination are less than those from an average level school.

Finally, even we admit that the honor system reduces the probability of students' cheating, there exist several defects of its own. For one thing, students who agree not to cheat could not promise they really don't do that, for another, suspecting others is not always accuracy and will destroy the relationship between classmates. So this honor system could not be carried out for long.

In conclusion, the arguer fails to prove that the honor code is feasible and effective only by the seeming persuasive survey and evidence .To strength the argument, the arguer would have to provide evidence that the survey can reflect true condition about cheating and that honor code won’t destroy the relation ship of students.
