It is premarily through formal education that a culture tries to perpetuate the ideas it favors and discredit the ideas it fears.
The advancement of society makes education plays a more and more significant role which may influence the future of the society. Now there are someone claims that it is premarily through formal education that a culture tries to perpetuate the ideas it favors and discredit the ideas it fears. As far as I am concerned, it can bring both advantages and disadvantages to formal education.
Firstly and the foremost, it is true that a culture sometimes tries to perpetuate the idears which it prefers while make the ideas it fears unknown to the students. Because our education is a gradual and spirual process, some ideas which is too new may threaten some old ideas which the general teachers who are the representative of the traditional values may be hiden from our students. It is a common phenomenon that a culture prefer some material than others. One example can well illustrate this view is Galilio, whose books is probitten by the government because of the new ideas which contradicts the well-known ones. The educaion is a conplex things which makes our teachers be cautious, and only the classic ideas which the culture prepers can be safely taught to the students. the church may fear the ideas which Galilio has risen up for the reason that it is oppose the existing culture.
However, the disadvantages of the preferance in formal education is obvious. The students who receive the education which only about the ideas which the general culture likes may have a little scope of knowledge. The ideas which the teacher fears for no mattter what reasons may be worthy for the students to grasp. while it may have reasons for the teacher discreete some too extreme new ideas, some new ideas is nearer to the real science. If the people only want to keep our tradional cultures, the result may be disastrous. Let us repeat the examples regarding Galilio, whose idea is no doubt right, regardless of what others who may have a short eyesight at that time think of. The students, who is the pillar of our future, need to have a all-rounded konwledge, which may inspire their imagination.
Not only the formal education but also the general trend of the populace would rather to some ideas while hates others. Formal education is only one aspect of the whole. As a child, we were always be told what is right and what is wrong. It is no wrong for the general public to have some preferance because some ideas the public fears is dangerous to some extant. Our teenagers are vulnerable to some extremes for they are too young to distinguish from the complex things. Every nations have their cultures, which can represent the overall character. It is indispensable to let the culture to be remained from generation to generation. Some ideas which the culture fears is really bad for the students such as the Adolf Hilter, no one can say that he is not a genious in military, but his endless hatred about Jews and other exreme opinions should be leave alone from the students. the main culture has its own values to become own culture while the students have reason to learn from teachers.
The goal of the formal education is to teach the students well-rounded education while teach them abilities to distinguish the proper ones. through formal education is one way that a culture tries to perpetuate the ideas it favors and discredit the ideas it fears.
Although it may be worthwhile for some teachers to choose the proper knowledge for the students and it may actuallty do something to keep our cultures,The teacher should use this kind of preference carefully. It is the right for the students to obtain various knowledge instead of some which the main culture prefers. The ideas which the majority fears may sometimes have values. If we ignore the other parts of the education-the ideas which the general public do not like, our students may lack questioning abilities and some innovation which may potentially happens.
