Do you agree or disagree with thefollowing statement? Renewable sources of energy (sun, wind, water) will soonreplace fossil fuels such as gas, oil, and coal.

Theword "new energy" has become hot pitch currently while global warmingis leading to a series of disasters such as Hurricane Irene. Admittedly, cleanand green energy creates a fancy world in our mind, and no one would like to take leave to doubt it.For me, in long term we will substitute fossil fuels for renewable sources, butthis process cannot happen rapidly.

Abunch of technical issues, which hinder the practical application of newenergy, are awaiting solutions. Hundreds years ago, our ancestors had begun touse the wind power to assist them to work such as windmill, but even now peoplestill do not find a ideal method to store the power wind has created. In otherwords, the greatest imperfection of wind power, which is intermittent, limitsthe range of its application. Perhaps, one day in future, those key problems willbe solved, but now we have to ask the help from the fossil fuels.

Somerenewable sources of energy need a great deal of investment. These stocks relatedto solar energy attract many investors’ attention recently, and they believethat sun energy will become the mainstream of energy market in next decades.Actually, in the 1960s, the government of United States had supported solarpower for a long time but later ceased such project. The reason is not onlybecause the research process is slow but this program costs a lot of money aswell. At last, this project had become a heavy burden of national budget, so thepresident had to cut it off later. Based on such reason, we are going toconclude simply that renewable energy still has a long distance to walk beforeenough money have been invested in.

Currently,pollution is another disadvantage of renewable sources. The 9.0 magnitude earthquakehappened in Japan last year devour thousands of people' life and villages. Theworse thing tsunami destroyed the Fukushima Nuclear Plant and nuclear leakage causes a nucleardisaster and affected millions of people’s life. From that time, the wholeworld begins to reconsider the using of atom energy whether is safe or not. Germaneven have planned to close down all the nuclear plants before 2022. Withoutconsidering the crisis of nuclear energy, even the solar energy also makes somepollution. During the producing process of Polysilicon, used for solar cells,will generate some poisonous material and pollute our environment seriously.Those negative effects of new energy cannot be handle down in a short period.

Insum, though renewable bring about many perks for our life, they still need severaldecades to replace fossil fuels, for there still exist low efficiency,pollution and technical problems now.
