Position:Money spent on research is not always a good investment.  Research is a necessary approach to explore the unknown and in return benefit us.  In the process of exploring the unknown, inevitably, sometimes there may not be any result expected,or the opposite result could be detrimental to us itself.  money spent on this kind of research still can be regarded as a good investment.  Only money spent on those  researches  aimming for bad purpose in the first place cannot be considered as a good investment.

            1,In science, the research is to know more about the mysterious world, and then use the result to benefit us.
            2,In art, the research is to better comprehend the already exited art form and then to better instill new blood and vim.

总结：In sum, we cannot broadly claim that money spent on research is a good invesment ,with taking into account the primary aim of the research. Not all researches can bring about the benefit we expected, but to finacially support them is still a good investment. Nevertheless, it won't be a wise investment for those researches with an evil purpose.

1.在人类的演化过程中，科学研究发挥着非常重要的作用。首先，研究向人们揭示自然界的各种现象，将人类从愚昧无知转变为现在的高度发达的文明世界。其次，研究帮助人们解决各种各样的问题，在人类发展初期，研究帮助人类对抗自然的威胁，现在研究推动科技以及知识的发展，并能够用于解决在科技发展的同时产生的各种各样的社会问题。（电脑和网络）

2.引起争议的第一个原因是有一部分人不能收益，但是这未必是坏事。（宇宙竞争）一方面，争议性的研究同样能够帮助人类认识未曾接触到的领域，并且能够让发明者进一步完善观点。另一方面，一些争议性的研究能够吸引更多人的目光，因此能够让更多的人愿意投身到科技的发展中来。最终整个社会都会收益。这一点在当今的科技飞速发展的时代尤为明显。

3.引起争议第二个个原因，很多理论和研究是超前于时代的。很多非常有价值的研究成果最初都是有争议的，不同领域的研究有不同的应用价值。价值体现时间不同。不能对于所有的有争议的研究都不投资。部分研究中的争议问题不应当成为阻碍研究发展的理由，就好像人类不可能为了逃避污染而放弃工业给我们带来的便利一样。

4. 不得不承认，有的研究的确会给社会带来灾难性的后果，尤其是用于研究各种武器的研究。正如许多人所指出的那样，研究的双重性意味着：人们不光能够用研究提高生活的标准，而且还可以用来摧毁人类社会。比如，各国在努力发展经济的同时，都在同时研发更先进的武器。这就需要人们对于发明创造和科技创新有一个比较清晰的认识。

5.因此不管怎样，研究的价值最终应该应用在造福人类，无论是在人们的日常生活中，还是促进人们更加有效的了解世界促进社会进步。
