准备复议，贴出练习大家帮忙看看，希望有多大

作文考了3分，打算复议，但是发了邮件，ETS估计在过节，还没空甩我。随机选两篇自己考前（9-15考）的练习作文贴出来，1个ISSUE，1个ARGU，都是一字未改的原件，有不少错别字，大家看看复议有必要不？
不管大家提什么意见，都先谢过了！

TOPIC: ISSUE153 - "Students should bring a certain skepticism to whatever they study. They should question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively."

Students should be skeptical to whatever they learn . It is such a gorgeous habit deserving high praise.
Critical thinking is the best way to keep spiritually indenpentent and make sure what they learn is object and right. No one is perfect, including the teachers and the textbook writers. What they try to instill into the students' brain are surely delibrately selected but no one can guarantee they are all right, not only because they arthors' knowledge is limited but furthermore all knowledge is ready to be checked and revised. This case is eapecially obvious in social subjects, where the books are often dominated by the traditional ideas or those that are favorited by the government. Those ideas try to shape our mind and control people's behaviors, but their objectivity is always open to doubt. So, only by being skeptical can the students gain the indenpendence of their mind and their future. Every father or mother doesn't their children to be slaves at all, but if they so passively accept things others imposed on them, they are slaves mentally. Someone may argue that my words are overstated, but one can look the history in China in the seventies last century. During this period, the whole country including the students are so fervent to what their leaders say and regard them as the truth, which is proved actually wrong now.This is catastrophe to the country which draged it into stagnant both in economy and politics. So we should take lessons from this tragedy.
Students can get a better understanding of what they learn through critical thinking. This is the best way of learning. Remembering by rote can only give us facts, can never truly empower us with valuable mind or pecific methods which are the real knowledge. For example, learning science especially needs critical thinking, although all the axiom and laws have been proved by the precendents, and when we first meet these profound kownledge, we should ask questions such as " isn't ture?" or "does it really work that way?" , and further we can prove them by ourselves or with the methods privided by the books and teachers. Through the process, we can better understand the meaning and the essence of the knowledge we put into our mind ,and further we can use them flexibly. This kind of knowledge is living and of high prodictivity.

Parents and teachers should encourage their students' precise skepticism instead of not caring about or impatient of it. Someone may despise this commendation, and they will say "of course"  because this is so easy to understand. But in daily life, actually, lots of people are inclined to be impatient to their children's questions. Think about it , have you ever told you children "things are born like this " or " you don't need to know so much in you age" and just let them give up their skepticism? And have you asked them to listen to the teachers' direction completely and don't ask silly questions such as "why the moon appear in the night while the sun in the day?" So check our behavior and modify themif there are any mistakes.



TOPIC: ARGUMENT97 - The following appeared in a memo from the manager of television station KICK.
"A nationwide survey reveals that a sizeable majority of men would like to see additional sports programs on television. After television station WACK increased its sports broadcasts, its share of the television audience in its viewing area almost doubled. To gain a larger audience share in our area, and thus increase company profits, KICK should also revise its broadcast schedule to include more sports coverage."

The arguer recommend KICK revise its broadcast schedule to include more sports coverage based on some problematic facts.
There is no direct evidence to support the casual relationship between the increase of sports broadcasts and the the increase of the share of audience of WACK. We cannot assumptuously consider one things happening earlier to be the cause of the later.Maybe the increase of the audience is due to the introduction of a new TV series, or the establishment of a talk show. So, to make the arguement more convincing, some more specific information is needed such as the how much share of audience each programme gains. Moreover, the argue should incoporate the social environment into consideration.  For example, are there any big match going on when the share of the audience increase, and thus how long this kind increase will last is open to doubt.

Take a step back, enve though it is really the increase of sports broadcast that account for the rising share in WACK, we still cannot deduce that the same measure is appliable to KICK. First, check the current sports programmes of KICK, are they enough? If it has already taken a long time, try to analyse deeply the cause of the current low share. Maybe it's the programmes' style or quality  that needs improvement rather than the increase of the sports time, or maybe because there are too many advertisements in the programme. Begore we make clear what matters, any conclusion is not reliable.

The arguer ignores the adverse effects of the increase of sports broadcast. There is no denying that a sizeable men like sports programs. But if KICK increase overduly the proportion of these kind program, maybe they will gain a little more male audience, but there is a good chance that they will lose much more women audience. Meanwhile, the arguer fails to consider any alternate measures to increase the share of audience, such as improving the programs' quality and style and so on.
