Dear **,

Thank you for your interest in our counseling psychology program. We have both an APA-accredited doctoral program and master’s programs in school counseling and community counseling. In our admissions procedure we do not typically link students to a particular faculty member, although you would be welcome to select the advisor of your choice if admitted. Given my research focus, I would be interested in having a student with your background in our program. However, I do not have any assistantship position available for you at this time. We also tend to have a harder time funding international students because many of our university positions are limited to U.S. citizens. However, some of our international students do find funding on campus. We would welcome your application for one of our programs, but can’t guarantee funding support. The doctoral program is quite competitive to get into, so you might consider applying for both the doctoral program and either the school and community program as well if either of them meet your goals.
