  The speaker asserts that only the work of art understandable to the majority has merit, I concede that certain sort of art will develop dramatically when it is accepted by most of the people. However, we shall not ignore the existentce of elegant arts hard to grisp for the masses.In addition, endeavor to discover objective reasons for the recession of some kinds of arts will lead to their renaissance.

  Admittedly, no matter what kind of art it is, its influence spread surprisingly fast and thus obtains huge progress in its development when it gets popular with ordinary people. For instance, the pop music, which dated back to only a few decades ago, has acted as an indispensable part in our musical industry because of its popularity among the majority of people. The same goes for the film and by the way, what an amazing leap from the black-white ones to those filled with tined techniques nowadays. Needless to say, there sits tight link between the incentive drives the film industry achieve continuous success and support from the masses.

  Otherwise, another kind of art, the elegant art is far more different since it has always been the symbol of gorgeous taste which in turn could only be appreciated by the minority. Unlike popular styles of arts which directly reflect our real life, the elegant arts transcends the superficial elements and instead unfolds the kernel essence via rather indirect ways. Set Picasso's print for example, for a person without special training on arts, it is too difficult to tell what the impressionism,one of Picasso's famous contribution means and the indication behind his abstract prints. Even so, no one could deny the status of elegant arts as they represent the highest level of arts heritage in history.

  The reason why certain sorts of art suffered from alienation of modern society by the majority lies on their intrinsic factors. First, once they were considered as vogue though the situation altered with time passing by. It is because in the modern society where the life pace becomes quicker and leisure time gets relatively shorter, people can hardly spare adequate time to learn to enjoy something appealing to them. For instance, it is no wonder that most of the British has not read the sonnets of Shakesphere for they lack time and also energy to acquire the usage of language prevailing hundreds of years ago. Without self-learning on this, it is impossible for individuals to comprehend what the sonnets really are. In contrast, the novels, magazines or the television series win the preference for their convinence. Thereby, in order to make a work of arts exhibit its value to the fullest , the work has to adapt itself to the social shifts by modifying the external pattern. For sonnets, it might work well, if we publish a book in which both the original words and the translation are involved.

   To sum up, in my view the value depends not on the popularity weighed by the number of fans but on the true spiritual enjoyment they bring to the society. Not everyone owns the capacity to criticize arts when these works' significance is undeniable. Moreover, to bolster the sustainable development of all kinds of arts, it is wise to keep arts change with each passing day according to the actual circumstances.
