We just see that Van Gogh's painting Sunflowers is full of bright colors and jolly emotions, but with respect to its deep meaning we have no ideas if the critics don't tell us the backgrounds of Van Gogh and give an analysis of this painting. I concede that artists are the original creators of well-known artistic works; however, critics are also necessary for the artistic works' recreation. They are to some extent the bridge between common people and artists.

No one can deny the crucial role of artists in the creation of these artistic works. They use arts to express their individual thoughts and emotions; even their works sometimes reveal the hidden social ideas and impulses. They still make every effort to continue going on this way even though they may have to bear loneliness and misunderstanding. It is the strong belief rooted in their mind that supported them to overcome difficulties and create excellent artistic works by heart. Da Vinci, the famous painter in Renaissance, persisted on drawing eggs when he began to learn painting. Countless pieces of paper on which is always one thing---egg obviously proved his efforts for learning painting. In the end, Da Vinci created the well-known painting Mona Lisa based on his unparallel skills. Another example comes from the musician Beethoven, who composited the destiny symphony to express his unyielding resistance against fate even though he had been deaf at that time. No matter what field the artistic works belong to, they are the best representations of these artists' arduous efforts.

But as one said, arts is a luxury that most people either have no access to or simply cannot appreciate Yet, the appearance of critics who evaluate the artistic works have changed such situations. They give their views and comments to artists, and sometimes illustrate the hidden and internal spirits and values of a masterpiece to the commons. Thus, the general public could understand the real meaning of these artistic works and these artists could also be widely accepted as masters. One might see no further than the example of Van Gogh. Through the analysis of many critics we can easily understand the hidden idea conveyed in his Sunflowers that he used all his energy to pursue the most simple and ordinary thing in this world-----that is the sun. In addition, some young artists could get the real reflect of their works from these critics so as to make adaptations for better works. The articles of critics play an important role in the process of these masterpieces' recreation and infuse new vitality into these historic artistic works.

With the development of economy, commercial profits have become the motivations of some critics to write critical articles. Their analysis mostly caters to the taste of general public and indirectly advertises these commercial works, such as popular music and soap opera, in order to make more money. However, most critics still adhere to their principles and from an objective and artistic angle analyze the highlights of these artistic works, which may be boring and hard to completely understand but are as valuable as the artistic works itself. In fact, the value of great arts and its real critics will be preserved and the foibles would be abandoned into the historical abysmal.

In summary, critics and artists jointly create the ever-lengthening masterpieces, which cannot be attributable to artists alone. Based on our limited knowledge about arts, we appreciate more of a critical article than of the artistic works to some extent. Just these articles help us build the value of these meaningful artistic works.
