题目：

The way people look,dress, and act reveals their attitudes and interests. You can tell much about asociety’s ideas and values by observing the appearance and behavior of itspeople.

提纲：
1.该方法有道理但是并不能普遍适用。
2.人们在形成本身价值观的时候一直接受社会带来的各种影响，从而体现在自己的行为中。
3.人们通过教育这种更直接的方式接受社会对自己行为的规范。
4.在一些情况下并不适用，比如行为可能代表更小的团体的理念而非社会，可能为满足其他要求而改变，在特殊情境中也会改变。

Can we generalize a society's ideas and values simply by observing the appearance and behavior of its people? It is really true to some extend because the way people look, dress and act always represent the local culture, which includes the society's mainstream and values. But multifarious factors that lead to people's different expression, dress and behavior make this conclusion improper in some temporary or unexpected cases.

In ordinary situation, it is advisable to make some primary judgment of what people or the society values and focus on. People start to gain plenty of information from their society inextricably once they come to this world. As children, the thing that people do most frequently is to imitate adults around them in many fields, including what they dress and how they act to different scenes. In fact, forming habits, such as dressing and speaking, is the process of recieving, analyzing and responsing to social effects. Besides, there is a word - fashion - that shows the close relationship between people's appearance, as well as habits, and the social effects. People, especially young groups, want to follow fashion, which always reflects the social trends based on the ideas of the society. Then it is obvious that the way people look and act is tied up to the society's values.

Another evidence that people's appearance and behavior reflect the society's thoughts can be simply found in the field of education. It can not be denied that one of the most direct and effective ways of form and change one's habits exists in campus. From primary school to high school, even to the period of university, people keep being taught how to behave, talk and act to kinds of cases, through the textbooks and other materials that are recognized by the mainstream of the society. After school, people are also educated about kinds of criteria and rite directly by parents, friends, and media. For example, female of some nations in Middle East can not make their hair seen. So it is hard for people to behave in the ways that are different from even against their society's values.

However, it is not always a reliable method to tell the society's ideas just by observing people. We all know that most people in a society always congregate as many groups of which people share many things in common with their peers, so that people's behavior only represents the unique values of the group rather than the whole society. In addition, there is a great chance that people are asked to dress and act in a settled way in order to meet some necessary creteria. Imagine that people from Middle East where the dressing style are quite different find jobs in some international companies with great history and strict rules on dressing. They may have to give up their own style so that they do not dress against the companies' rules. How can you find information of the society from their dressing? What's more, in some strange or emergent situation, people's behavior is driven by their instinct which is shared by humans all over the world so that there is nothing to do with the abstract concept, such as society's ideas and values.

To sum up, people's appearance and behavior do reflect their thought inside, which is the image of the society's ideas. It is admittedly an important measure to get a quick understanding of a society through the people's dressing, speaking and other habits of different behavior. But the information we gain by observing people is undoubtedly limited for us to understand a society correctly and profoundly, which we mustn't forget.
