论点：评论家同艺术家一样，也在时刻为世界创造永恒持久的价值。



1评论家对艺术作品有一个筛选的作用，粗制滥造的艺术不能称之为艺术，评论家把这些过滤掉留给世界好的艺术价值。
2评论家更好地阐述和挖掘艺术作品中的深层含义，让大众更容易理解，使艺术的价值得以更好的传播。(第二点我合在第一点一起说了，只提了一下)
3评论家在对艺术作品评价的时候会给艺术家以反馈和建议，产生更好的艺术。

4评论家要成为评论家必须在既定的领域有着不逊于艺术家的造诣，换句话说，评论家在某种程度上来说也是艺术家，他在批评评价的同时自己也为世界创造出价值。

Critic, defined as a person who evaluates works of art, such as novels, films, music, paintings and other works of art, in my opinion, gives society real lasting value as well as artist.

As the old saying of Socrates goes, the unexamined life is not worth living, so is art. Actually, the works of art poorly made cannot even count as art. And what a critic basically does is to pick out the real value from various art works and explain it. Usually, critics, who are extremely accomplished in those realms, may have certain insight about those works than the layperson, which obviously help to select and explain better. Somebody hold the opposing view, claiming that criticism to the art is some kind of harm to its growing and development. But it’s not real. The real valued art works will not be so frail when facing such criticism but, on the other hand, be stronger and more lasting through those criticisms. Beethoven’s music was firstly denied by critics and other musicians for it betrayed the main stream of that period. But these negations never fade its greatness though he was temporarily unappreciated. The real value of the music seemed more lasting and cherish.

Simultaneously, critics provide corresponding feedback to artist to make art perfect. Criticism is the motivation of object’s advancement including improvement of art. As the creator of a work of art, they themselves barely find its flaws. Thus, art will be difficultly improved. If regarding artist as the creator who gives birth to the embryo of value of art, the criticism is the processor of the terminal value. By examining the art works and providing suggests which could perfect the works, criticisms play an important role in lasting value’s shaping. So, criticism is indispensable as artist when giving lasting value to society.

And more importantly, I always believe that critic, to a certain extent, is another kind of artist. As a critic of art, they must be the man of highest attainments and they may even be more excellent than artist of that realm. Otherwise I can barely regard them as passable critics. Imagine if the critic is not professional, the evaluation will not be an actual evaluation but just a kidding. In this way, I can hardly find a complete critic, that is to say, they critics are almost all part-time critics. They provide art works and the value in it to the world while doing some criticisms in corresponding field. And hence critic is artist either. Voltaire objects to Shakespeare for his deviation from neo-classical principle; Luxun criticize the Confucianism to advocate the new cultural movement. It is common to see that to criticize requires being professional and excellent first.

In conclusion, critic plays an irreplaceable role in lasting value’s shaping since that they can perfect art works when providing criticisms. More importantly, a critic with highly attainments must be someway an artist either. They can hardly be separated when giving the world value.(word 498)
