In this argument, the author recommends that the reason why the decrease of the profits in the Fancy Toy Company is due to the leadership of their president, Pat Salvo. He suggests that Pat Salvo should be fired, and use Rosa Winnings to replace her. In addition, the company should pay Rosa twice the salary because of she can let the profits increase rapidly. The argument, while seems logical at first glance, actually rests on several unproved assumptions.

In the first place, it must be noted that the manager do not have any evidences to support his assumption. A large amount of things may cause the decrease of the profits and the president cannot take control of them. For example, thanks to the economic crisis, maybe there is a bad time in toy's market. There is no seller to buy toys and most of the toy company has been bankrupted. Furthermore, the change of the custom duties also has influence on the profits. All these factors above are out of the president’s control, perhaps the president has already adopted a series of measures to guarantee the sales, and unfortunately the market is flat.

Secondly, if Pat Salvo should be responsible to the decrease of the profits, there is little evidence that the decrease in profits will continue. It is likely that it was the first time she came to this company; she did not have a deep understanding of the programs for this company. And now she has already been familiar with the programs and adopted a series of measures to change her mistakes. It is possible that the profits will be keep growing in the next two quarters.

Thirdly, the author recommends that the president of Starlight Jewelry is much more suitable than Pat Salvo. However, although Rosa Winnings is good at the jewelry business, she maybe lack of experience of a toy company. It is universally that these are two different kinds of business. Perhaps she has never taken charge of a toy company and even do not know how to do that. Therefore, no one can make sure that Rosa Winnings will increase the profits quickly.

In sum, this argument is lack of evidence. Fired the present president and appoint a new one is not the best way. The writer should analyze the reasons more carefully, and find the real reason which causes the decrease of the profits. Then he can recommend the most useful way to solve the problem.
