"Some educational systems emphasize the development of students' capacity for reasoning and logical thinking, but students would benefit more from an education on that also taught them to explore their own emotions."
一些教育机构强调培养学生的推理和逻辑思考能力,但是学生从教他们如何培养个人情操的教育系统中获益更多。


The speaker asserts that students would benefit a lot from an education which not only emphasize the capacity for reasoning and logical thinking but also pay much attention to the development of emotional intelligence. I agree with the speaker that the emotional intelligence is important and necessary for current students, and our educational systems should seek a balance between logical thinking and emotional development.

Admittedly, there is no faulty that educational institution emphasizes the development of students' capacity for reasoning and logical thinking. After all, reasoning and logical thinking are necessary for study and life of student. Without reasoning and logical thinking, it is difficult for understanding some disciplines, such as physic and math, which are come from logical inference. On the other hand, logical thinking and reasoning is the fundamental capacity to recognizing right and wrong. Consider, for instance, if we have the ability of reasoning and logical thinking, we can find the logical flaw in the article which recommends you to buy something, and we can avoid inspired by the politician who are mentally crazy.



However, having capacity of reasoning and logical thinking is not enough for students. We should pay same attention on the development of emotional intelligence of students as we paid to the capacity for reasoning and logical thinking since there are many problems in our society due to the absent of emotional education. For example, many young people have obstacle to communicate with others; some students have the trends of violence, and some students are self-abased. All problems described above can be exhaustively solved by helping students to explore their own emotion rather than taught them how to logical thinking. Emotional intelligence contains some facets as follows: an ability, capacity or skill to perceive, assess, manages self-emotion, others' emotion and the emotion of group. Students can learn themselves by perceiving their own emotions and can control their extreme behavior by assessing and managing their emotions. Moreover, through learning others' emotions, we can better understanding other people and build a symphonious relationship with them.

Aside from helping students get ride of emotional troubles, emotional education can also inspire students’ artistic inspiration since art and creativity are coming from the true emotion of heart. Thorough help students to explore their own emotions, students can really recognize themselves, and they express their emotions and thoughts by songs, printing and literature. This is the way artists create art.


To sum up, since reasoning and logical thinking is the fundamental ability of students, we give no cause for more criticism to the emphasis of them. Nevertheless, we cannot ignore the significant of emotional intelligence which can do help to the mature of mind and is utility in the arts. Thus, our educational system should strike a balance between rational thinking and emotional intelligence.
