I am pleased to offer you admission to the PhDprogram in biostatistics starting in Fall 2011 and to appoint you as a Graduate School Fellow.Pending available funding, we plan to continue your appointment for a term of four years. TheGraduate Program Committee will review your progress each year and if it is deemedsatisfactory, your status as a Graduate School Fellow will be renewed automatically. TheGraduate School Fellowship is the most prestigious award offered to incoming graduatestudents, and it carries a stipend of $20,000 each year for four years starting in Fall 2011.

A requirement of the Graduate School Fellowship is that you spend at least one academic yearas a Teaching Assistant (TA). During your first academic year you will be assigned duties as aTA so that you can gain some teaching experience. Duties under the assistantship involveapproximately 20 hours of work per week. In the remaining academic years you are expectedto be a Research Assistant (RA).

The stipend will be accompanied by a tuition waiver for 18 credit hours, the minimum requiredregistration (9 credit hours in Fall and 9 credit hours in Spring).


比较长，废话多，不过大体是4年fellow奖学金，但是不明白为什么要做TA和RA，还有关于学费是不是每一年都免还是只有第一年也没有说清楚。请各位大侠帮忙鉴定下~谢谢

是fellowship，phd一般都是需要做一年TA的，也就是说你第一年是有助教任务，可能帮着上上课改改作业什么的；之后就是帮着导师搞研究就行了，就是RA。学费的话肯定是每年都免，这个不需要担心。cong一个~~~lz的心情可以理解，兴奋的乱了。。。。

因为它说TW的时候直说18credits，没有说每年18credits，就着急会不会是四年一共才waive这些呢~

我觉得根据邮件的意思，免学费应该是fellowship的附加条件，所以只要你每年能申上fellowship就肯定能免啦~~不过一般情况也就前两年有课要交学费吧
