     Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: the government should focus on envrionmental problems instead of on ecomomic development      




With the booming of modern technology, our economic has a substantial development. However, it also brings us a lot of environmental problem, such as air pollution, global warming, and forest decreasing. We have only one mother-earth; it is an obligation of every country to focus more attention on environmental problems.
Firstly, ignoring environmental problem will cause sires of disaster for all creatures. All of creatures live on the earth on the basis of a good environment. Focusing on the development with ignoring environmental problem will bring series of disasters to all of creatures on the earth. For instance, global warming, due to the excessive development of industry, causes that ice shelves on the pole is melting which will jeopardize island countries such as Japan, Indonesia, and Maldives. The terrific flood in the south of china due to the deforestation leads many residents lost their habitat.
Secondly, protecting our environment is beneficial to the sustainable development of economy. Natural resource is limited. Protecting our environment is protecting our valuable resource. With the development of economy, we spend more and more resource on industry. Ignoring this phenomenon, our energy will dissipate in the foreseeable future and the development of our economy will cease as well. According to a survey, petroleum in the world will can be used for fifty years with costing in current speed. Fifty years later, our energy will be exhausted, how can our economy develop? Protecting our environment is protecting our natural resource, economy can be developed in sustain when our environment is preserved. For example, wood is useful in many modern industry, if we focus on the development of economy with deforestation, what is going on? Our habitat will be invaded by desertification and flood, our lost is much more than get.
Admittedly, economy is very important to human beings, which can make us enjoy a high level of living. However, if we want to make it come true, we must plan economy hand in hand with environment. Through this, our economy will enjoy a sustainable development with the environment carefully preserved. This is a win-win strategy.
All in all, environment is significant to the sustainable development of economy and living conditions for human beings. We have only one mother-earth, it is everyone’s obligation to preserve it, make it a brilliant future.
