去考是没有条件的 有医学学位就可以去考了
但考完之后想用考出来的成绩match上 那就难了
而且这个考试 如果一次不成功 第二次再考就更难match了

我周围有同学在考。也有师兄师姐考了step2之后出去读PhD，一边读一边准备step3，读完再match的。还有更早的师兄师姐已经在美国做医生了。

How high it is? over 250 or even close to 270 in step 1 will definatly help, but still will be hard if there is any drawback like no green card, no US clinical experience, a fail in CS, or anything. There is no easy for match by Chinese, just how hard it is, but hard is not impossible.
I hope I can get close to 240 later, which is normal among Chinese, but still no confidence to it at all.
Well, anyway I do not have any successful experience so far, and not sure which way is better even myself. I only know if one can study USMLE full time, there will be much less pressure desipate the financial aspect of life, and maybe easier for high score.

这么说吧 假如你是医院负责招人的 国内一堆还不错的医学院毕业的学生任你挑 这时候来一个神马巴基斯坦不知名学校毕业的外国学生 考试分数很高 你敢招么？
可能有人敢招 但起码大部分不愿意招 这就是为什么match不到

En, re LS. US medical gradautes have a match rate almost 100%. Then there are a small number of openings, which mostly occupied by Indians. Then there are a big number of US citizens graduated from Caribbean area medical shool which are US citizens and more than 1 year of US clinical hands-on experience, which is a big big plus. So, actually there is not a very big pool left for Chinese, however great ones' background. But we sure can try as there is still some chance left for us. Hig score becomes not a big plus but a must as most Chinese and Indians have high score.

Yes, more and more, aiming for family medicine and internal medicine for most people. Sure it worth a try if one has enough time, money, and a career plan in US.
