Many people use distance-learning programmes to study at home while other people think that these programmes cannot bring as much benefit as attending college or university.  What is your opinion?




Education has been viewed as one of the most essential elements of individuals’ development.Meanwhile, people are having a hard time reaching consensus on how to study. Some people tend to study at home by distance-learning programme, while others assert that the traditional way of attending university are better. I am in favor of the latter view.

It is very likely that, not only can students study core curriculum effectively at
colleges, but also have access to various extra-curricular activities which afford students an outlet for creativity and problem-solving, most notably the physical education lessons and art appreciation. As a matter of fact, the aims of education should not be restricted to the development of knowledge or technique and students should not merely learn to be better-scored but well-rounded. Additionally, on the contrary to the long-distance programme, university offer students an occasion to make friends and promote their personal relationships which make benefits to their future careers. Futhermore, teachers tend to get first-hand feedbacks or reactions from the students on the spot and then adjust the lessons geared to students’ needs and abilities, otherwise mechanically studying and teaching will never facilitate individuals’ progression.

Admittedly, self-paced distance learning offers students convenience and flexibility. Students can study wherever they want and whenever they are available, irrespective of the professors’ schedules. Obviously, due to the distance-learning programme, students will be lack of the opportunities to face-to-face communications with their peers and alienated from the other individuals, while studying at university can bypass the weakness.

In summary, regard this issue, I am of the opinion that attending the college is more beneficial to the individuals’ physical and mental development.Of course, if possiple, I am
convinced that educators should integrate the university study with long-distance learning.
