Do youagree or disagree with the following statement. Parents should allow theirchildren to make mistakes and let them learn from their own mistakes.

The statement that parents should allow theirchildren to make mistakes and let them learn from their own mistakes may be plausibleat first glance. However, with further consideration, it may be unwarranted. Asto me, I agree with the point. More reasons and details will be listed asfollows.

Firstly, bylearning mistakes from their own cases, children can genuinely and eventuallylearn the mistakes well. According to the psychology, the best way of learning forboth children and adults is to practice. It is said that practice is basicrequirement of people to learn and recognize. Just take an example to supportthe cognitive theory. The babies can acquire the ability to learn language whenthey are nine month years old. But they cannot obtain the ability of speakinglanguage overnight. What they do is to follow their parents' words and practicethem for more than one time. Thus, they can learn them quickly and speak. Sowhen the children practice by themselves and make a mistake, it is just thebeginning of learning something. So the parent should allow them to make themistakes.

Moreover, ifparents do not allow them to make mistakes and try to teach them with their ownworld outlooks, the consequence may be harmful to children. In other words,parents should not teach their children basing on their own experiences. Inthat way, such a teaching can have a negative influence on children's curiosityand creativity. On the contrast, if let the children alone, they will be moreinterested in what they are learning and happy to make a mistake. For example,some parents always help their children do their homework. After finishing it,children may not learn the homework well and the parents may tell them wronganswers about some questions. So it may not be helpful. In the end, they failin the exam and are dependent on their parents. If let them do the homework bythemselves, although they will sometimes get a wrong answer, but they canfinally learn how to resolve the question and be independent.

In sum, I thinkchildren should be independent and make more mistakes. Thus they can grow upwith more self-confidence.
