When it comes to the issue whether we should do two or more projects at the same time, different people may hold various answers. An online investigation, conducted by the Chinese famous website Sina, shows that more than 70 percents of people would like to do the several projects at the same time, and most of them hold the opinion that doing the several relevant projects can save much time and much unnecessary and repetitive work. After a serious pondering, as far as I am concerned, I totally stand on the point that we should do the projects one by one, even though they are extremely relevant. There are reasons as follows.
First and foremost, it is undeniable that doing several projects at the same time distracts our attention paid on any one of projects, which may lead to an unsatisfied consequence. As we can see, our energy and attention are limited and it is too hard for us to put enough time and energy on the every project. Let us take me as an example, last semester, because I hurt my leg while playing football, I had to stay at home for rest. Therefore, a lot of subjects' papers are accumulated, at first, I was confident that I can finish them at the same time. Even though I put all my time and energy to these papers, and stayed up for several nights, I did not finish any papers due to the deadline. So I believe we cannot finish two projects perfectly at the same time, thus we need to do them one by one.
Admittedly, it is definitely can save some time when the several projects are relevant, but we also should acknowledge that the projects can mutually influence each other, which may decrease the efficiency of work. Last semester, one of my friends, who wants to go to French, prepared for the test of French, unfortunately, he also had to prepare for the English exam. So he prepared them at the same time. As we all know, both two language have the similar grammar and similar spelling, we may believe that he can finish these two tests perfectly, to our dismay, none of these two languages have passed. Because he made a lot spelling mistakes due to the similarity of these two languages.
In summary, from the two examples above, we can draw the conclusion that doing several projects at the same time not only can influence each other, but also cost much our energy that we cannot provide, so I hold the opinion that we should do the projects one by one.

According to the lecture, professor holds the opinion that ethanol is a good alternative to gasoline, and he also points out that reasons, listed in the passage, that ethanol is not a good one, are not convincing.
First, professor admits that burning ethanol also releases carbon dioxide, but ethanol is made from plants which can absorb carbon dioxide. If more ethanol is produced, then more plants are needed to cultivate, thus more carbon dioxide will be removed from our atmosphere, so it can solve the problem: global warming. This is where professor does not agree with the passage.
Second, professor describes that main plants components which is used to produce ethanol is sylimos, and farm animals do not eat them at all. Therefore, the food supply of farm animals will not be influenced, so production of ethanol cannot reduce the amount of plants used for animals. That directly contradicts the passage's viewpoint.
Third, professor acknowledges that government give tax subsidies to the ethanol producer, which make the price of ethanol cheap now. But he also describes that if more ethanol is produced, the enormous ethanol will decrease the ethanol price because supply exceeds demand. A study shows that 40% price of ethanol will decrease, which can compete with the gasoline on price. |
