The lecture and the passage are mainly discussing the way of preserve the Torreya taxifoha. The passage provides three solutions to the decline of Torreya. However, the speaker believes none of them satisfied the condition to solve the problem.

Firstly, the speaker thinks the reestablish Torreya in same location is unlikely success. Because Northern Florida's microclimate is influenced by the entire climate system, the microclimate of the Northern Florida actually has becoming cooler and drier, due to the global warming. Larger region's climate surely makes the microclimate become worse to the Torreya.

Secondly, the professor also believe move Torreya to an entirely different location is not a good choice.
She used another kind of plant as example to show the disaster consequence. Moving Torreya to the further north area surely will let the Torreya become thrive. However, they may cause the native plants cannot survive. Because Torreya in these areas will use a lot of source and lands.

At last, professor denies the research centers solution. She claim Torreya cannot resist disease if they are planted in centers. In center, Torreya will lose the genetic diversity. In order to become resistance to disease, they must have genetic diversity, but center do not have the capacity to plant so much Torreya
