        In the lecture, the speaker principally argues that all of the three ways mentioned in reading materials to address the decline of Torreya are useless. Then she reexamines the supporting details in the reading and presents her points of view.
        First of all, in terms of reestablishing Torreya in the same location, the speaker states that the larger region around the microclimate area will affect the microclimate and make it drier by global warming and drainage of lake. This challenges the point in the reading that reestablishing in the same location will make sense.
        Moreover, the speaker argues that moving Torreya to a different location is a bad suggestion. According to the speaker, moving to an entirely different location will bring unpredictable effect to the location and she gives an example of a kind of tree in America. When the tree was moved norther, it spreaded too fast that many other plants in the area were nearly extinct because of the finite sourse. On the contrary, the reading contends that moving Torreya further north will be a good way to stop decline of it.
        The last point that the speaker challenges the reading is that preserving Torreya in research centers may cause it to get disease. To demonstrate her point, she gives us an evidence that large number of trees getting together can protect them from disease but in research center there may not be so many same plants. So they will easily get disease. This contradicts the point in the reading that research centers are good places to preserve Torreya.
