Question: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
It is more important to choose to study a subject that interests you than a subject preparing you better for a career.
Whenever it comes to the issue that whether one should obey his interest or follow the market demand when selecting which subject to study, discussions and arguments are never found in shortage .Followers of both views are enthusiastic to present convincing reasons and instances. However, in my point of view, it is reasonable to endorse that a more attractive subject for one should take the first place.
Admittedly, almost every inspiring figure with an exploding success is in the right career as far as he concerned. This indicates that interest motivates one’s success. An example sheds light on this point . My brother Jacky was deeply interested in gardening at his age of 18 and was going to study this subject in the university. However, his inspiration was refuted by his parents for the poor salary in that career. Jacky insisted his own choice and began his arduous process. As his talent was accepted by a growing number of people, he eventually tastes the sweet fruits of success. In this example, we can see that Jacky’s is built up on the basis of his enthusiasm in gardening. We can clearly see how interest is playing a key role in individual’s career.
Moreover, one position may argue that for more typical individuals, they could benefit from a subject following the market demand since the employers in exploding sphere offer higher pay .They hold the view that instances of those highly esteemed celebrities are too far away from the common public .At the first glance, it seems fairly reasonable. However, only when the factor of market demand remain unchanged, can this theory works .As an exploding number of students follow the social tendency ,the employers would be faced the problem of excess supply. In this case, market supply could be far more than the market demand. Unemployment rate could therefore ramp up. Report has been given that 30 percent of seniors from popular subjects cannot get ideal positions. As I see it ,it is dangerous to choose the popular subjects to some extent.
Therefore, if both factors above are contemplated carefully ,it goes without saying that choosing the subject that students interest should always be the preferred choice.
